Khalkh river is a major river related to the national history of Mongolians. It is one of the historical monuments of the war of Khalkh river.The Khalkh River is a river flowing through the northeastern part of Eurasia and flows through the eastern part of Mongolia and the northeastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.

It is located in Sukhbaatar province and is a 233 km long river. The catchment area is 17,000 km². It originates at a height of 1,443 meters above sea level in the Ikh Hyangan mountain range, flows through the city of Khulunbuir, enters Mongolia, flows through the Khalkhgol ​​sum area of ​​the Dornod province, and then bends to define the border of the two countries and flows into Buir Lake.The final part has two branches, one of which flows into the northeastern part of Buir Lake, and the Orchun River flows out from the north and flows into Dalai Lake. But the other one is called Sharilji River and it directly joins Orchun River without tributary to Buir Lake.
