Hariharapura is a small village in Chikmagalur on the banks of river Thunga.

Hariharapura is 86 km northwest of Chikmagalur.

By air

Nearest airport is Mangalore airport which is 135 km from Hariharapura. Bangalore airport is 400 km away.

By train

Hariharapura is not reachable by train from other Indian cities. However Shimoga has the closest railway station which is 80 km from Hariharapura. Udupi is another closest railway station which is 85 km from Hariharapura.

By bus

There are buses from Bangalore both private and KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation). During long weekends these buses run full and getting a ticket can be a bit of a problem unless you book them in advance. KSRTC buses are comfortable especially the Rajahamsa (Luxury) buses. Indian National Highway 169 (NH-169) passes through this village connecting to Shringeri, Karkala, Moodabidre (Moodabidri), Mangaluru and Shivamogga.

The place is small and can walk around or take an autorickshaw. You can visit near by places by local buses as well.

The place has Sri Matt (Hindu Temple) of goddess Sharadamba on the banks of the River Tunga.The place is serene amidst forest, Arecanut farms and rice fields and surrounded by small hills.
