Pecos is a town in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. The town claims to have been the site of the first rodeo, on July 4, 1883.

By car

  • 89 mi (143 km) east of Van Horn and 39.5 mi (63.6 km) west of Monahans. Pecos is accessed through Exits 37-52 of I-20.
  • 3rd St & old US Hwy 80 serves as a business route of I-20 through Pecos. Road goes from Exit 37 to Exit 52 of I-20.
  • Cedar St 53 mi (85 km) northwest of Fort Stockton and 86 mi (138 km) southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
  • Bickley Ave 33 mi (53 km) north of I-10 in Saragosa.

By bus

  • Greyhound Lines, (bus stop) Sunoco/Stripes at 4101 S Cedar St (Cedar St (US 285) and I-20 at Exit 42), toll-free: 1 800 231-2222. Greyhound travels along I-10/20 between El Paso and Dallas/Ft Worth through Van Horn, Pecos, Midland/Odessa, Big Spring, Sweet Water and/or Abilene. Passengers going towards Alpine or Marfa on US Hwy 90 can transfer to All Aboard America buses in Midland/Odessa whose tickets are booked on Greyhound.com. As this is just a pick-up and drop-off point, tickets should be purchased beforehand online or over the phone.
