Talata Mafara is in Zamfara State, North West Nigeria.

It is said that Talata Mafara come from the Hausa meaning of “Tuesday,” because that is the market day of the town. Farming, especially millet, sorghum, and groundnuts, and livestock rearing are the primary economic activities of the town. This is an important trading location in the area, and the native are mainly of the Hausa and Fulani communities.

The climate of Talata Mafara is hot semi-arid with June–September signifying a wet season and the rest of the year a dry season. Visitors should prepare for warm weather as temperatures can be high all year round.
