Sedir island[edit]

Bozburun content sat awkwardly within Marmaris so I lifted it out and it now feels like a usable page. The anomaly is Sedir or Cleopatra island, lying (and accessed) some way to the north. Views please on where best to site this? Options -

  • Bozburun: status quo, it stays where it is, and you could argue that the island and Çamli access port are on a broader definition of Bozburun peninsula.
  • Datça peninsula is just as poor a fit.
  • Marmaris will be start point for most visitors, but it's 30 km south of Çamli.
  • Akyaka / Gökova is the other port for boat trips, 30 km east.
  • A separate page for this POI isn't justified - Grahamsands (talk)

I've always mentally associated that island with Marmaris — that may be because once you are past Gökova, the last significant town on the northern approach, it feels like anywhere along what is essentially a long dead-end street is already Marmaris, including when you reach the singpost for the island. Besides, Google Maps says Marmaris is a little closer than Akyaka/Gökova. However, the British-published guidebook I just checked groups it within what they decided to call the "Hisarönü peninsula" (mentioning it before going on to tell about the "rest" of the peninsula Hisarönü southwards), while the Turkish-published guidebook I have mentions it within the section about the surroundings of Marmaris, several pages before it starts to describe the Bozburun Peninsula. At any rate, you have to travel through Marmaris when going to the island from anywhere in the Bozburun Peninsula proper, so listing it within somewhere further rather than somewhere closer and that you have to touch in any case feels weird. DONE, moved to Marmaris as the least-awkward fit. Grahamsands (talk) 19:34, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
