[edit]

I don't exactly know why I have an issue with the current banner, but I think it's the image alignment. It's quite hard to take a perfect shot of Parliament House, and every image I've tried to crop required some rotation, before I realised that a banner of Parliament House doesn't work well.

I thought maybe cropping a banner of the flags might work, as they're very symbolic to Canberra. While you can certainly find the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags side-by-side, this is only really found in Queensland, but outside Qld, only the Australian and Aboriginal flags are found side-by-side.

For a bit more context on why the Australian flags are so symbolic, most Australians don't take pride in the flag, and I think I've seen the American flag more than the Australian flag – you just never see the Australian flag in public spaces or events, and the only place I can even think of outside government buildings is the Harbour Bridge. Because of this, the flag display is such a rare sight.

But, after some thought, for most non-Australians and maybe New Zealanders, that wouldn't make sense as this fact isn't really well known. So I thought of a banner taken from Mount Ainslie, but I feel it looks a bit too similar to the banner in Canberra.

It then struck me when looking at c:Parliament House, Canberra of maybe an image of the Senate or the House of Reps – both which feature Parliament House, and we rarely use such banners. So now my preferences are banner 4, 5, 0, 3, 2 and then 1. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 03:21, 11 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Banner 0 (current)
Banner 1 (another img of Parliament House)
Banner 2 (flag display)
Banner 3 (view from Mt Ainslie)
Banner 4 (the House of Reps)
Banner 5 (the Senate)
Since there have been no further comments, I'm going to replace the banner with 4. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:40, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
