Renaming page[edit]

This page is misspelled and really should be renamed to Comitán, with an accent over the a. Any objections? – StellarD (talk) 08:30, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please go ahead. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:41, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also say go ahead, but it's something that's always confused me. Should Noumea actually be Nouméa? Should Quebec be Québec? Wikivoyage:Naming_conventions#Article_naming is not exactly clear, although it seems we should use the name most used in English-speaking countries. Not sure which that would be in this case, though assume the one without the accent? James Atalk 09:20, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In most cases I agree with your point, particularly in cases of well-known places such as Venezia (Venice), Wien (Vienna), Praha (Prague), etc. However all English-language resources I've seen covering this region use the accent marks, so I do think it's appropriate here. Perhaps we could use Wikipedia as a guideline for naming conventions…? –StellarD (talk) 10:40, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I would use Nouméa, but Quebec, because although Quebec has a Francophone majority, there is a significant Anglophone minority and Quebec is a part of Canada, an Anglophone-majority country. But I think StellarD really puts her finger on the most appropriate standard: What spelling is most used in English-language sources. 06:59, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
