Talk:Continental Divide Trail

I'm looking at the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail, and Continental Divide Trail really as one unit and trying to share info between those three areas as well as Wilderness backpacking section to get these areas all working together. Lumpytrout (talk) 17:38, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One possible caution in that approach - the trail articles should focus on the trails themselves rather than becoming general articles about wilderness backpacking; instead, reference the Wilderness backpacking article from the trail articles for general information that isn't specific to the trails. That may be exactly what you're trying to do, but at this early stage I just wanted to verify.
To help in developing the trail articles, we don't really have any existing hiking trail articles that I'm aware of to use as examples to follow, but Natchez Trace Parkway and Route 66 are two lengthy automobile routes that might be useful as references.
All that said, the work you've done so far looks good to me, and I don't want to derail it, so please don't let these comments get in the way of all the content you've been adding. -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
thanks Ryan, I will keep that all in mind. I started running across a lot of different info after I had already started and realized that I should probably take a break and look at the whole big picture and see what else is out there before I proceed too much further. There really isn't a lot of good info out there on the Continental Divide Trail and some of the good info that I did find was too dated to be useful. This might be another place where WV can triumph. I will check out those other articles you suggested. Lumpytrout (talk) 19:08, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
