County listings

[edit]
  • I trimmed these hotels from Clare; they should be moved to the right cities. --(WT-en) Evan 12:28, 22 January 2007 (EST)
    • Dromoland Castle,
    • Vaughan Lodge,
    • Clare Inn Hotel & Leisure Centre,
    • Ocean Cove Hotel,

There remained six Do and one Drink listing. Two were deleted as duplicates, four delisted into plain text. Grahamsands (talk) 11:38, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

County overhaul

[edit]

County Clare has been overhauled by expanding the range of several town and village pages to take in nearby attractions.

Ennis the county town takes in Quin abbey, Knappogue Castle and Dysert O’Dea. I propose redirecting Craggaunowen there, a recreated crannog village.

Bunratty and Shannon are small and only 5 km apart but utterly different in character, so they shouldn’t merge.

Kilkee takes in Loop Head and the small places around such as Carrigaholt, Kilrush and Doonbeg. I propose redirecting Querrin there, a tiny place with just a beach, a campsite and a horse looking over the fence.

Milltown Malbay expands south past Quilty till it meets Kilkee coming the other way.

Lahinch expands to include Ennistymon and Liscannor – that page’s only content was two restaurants one of which has disappeared, redirect to Lahinch.

Cliffs of Moher (park page) are midway between Lahinch and Doolin, but the boat trips run from Doolin so those listings belong there. Lots of other overlap with Doolin, if this is removed then the Cliffs are just a couple of paragraphs and should redirect there.

Boat trip info probably has to be duplicated between Doolin and Aran Islands, since they connect but have sailings elsewhere.

Ballyvaughan takes in the coast road as far as Fanore, and south through the Burren to Leamenah.

Burren stands as a park article, but listings move to the “cities”, and the page includes the whole karst area not just the national park.

Kilfenora takes in the road south through Kilnaboy to Corofin. This last is a bit of a stretch but they’re all such tiny places. Corofin is the transition between the bleak limestone hills and the lush farmlands, and circles us back to Ennis.

Only one POI has failed to find a “city” home, Killaloe abbey which remains as a county “See”. It’s on the boundary with Tipperary and probably will find a home there whenever that county is overhauled.

So to summarise the proposed redirects: Craggaunowen > Ennis, Querrin > Kilkee, Liscannor > Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher > Doolin. Views? Grahamsands (talk) 21:18, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

'Those redirects have all been made plus one other: apols, I didn't signal the intent to redirect Lisdoonvarna into Doolin, the content was just three B&Bs which migrated. Grahamsands (talk) 19:36, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Would the Cliffs of Moher pix work better for Doolin than its current banner?
