Pagename change in banner template[edit]

SHB2000, I see that you changed the parameter |pgname= in the page banner template to "Diving the Deep Southeast Whittle Ridge". Was this as a test, and are you considering us doing the same for all 200 or thereabout dive sites of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay? It looks nice, and I am unconcerned by the amount of work to set it up, but how will we disambiguate between dive sites in different regions with the same site name? Even within the Cape Peninsula and False Bay there are two sites called Coral Gardens, disambiguated as Coral Gardens (Oudekraal) and Coral Gardens (Rooiels) which works here because they are already clearl dive sites of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay, but even South African divers will not generally know that Rooiels and Oudekraal are in the Cape Town region. Throughout the world, I would predict a larger number. There is one Roman Rock in this area, but there are said to be several on the coast of South Africa. There is a Shark Alley in False Bay, another off Gansbaai, and I think another somewhere off California. Do you have any suggestions which will be sufficiently robust to deal with this over the long term? Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 10:49, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not a test. I thought that was standard, at least because that's how (most) city districts are formatted. Not sure what to do about ambiguous names though. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:23, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you come up with any good ideas, let me know. The current style (used for the other sites) is not ideal, but it has worked so far, and I have stuck with it largely through inertia and lack of a better option. Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 11:58, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
