Merger

[edit]
  • This article now supports a single listing for a restaurant. I think this would be more useful if merged. @ButteBag: what do you think? Ground Zero (talk) 16:49, 5 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom.
  • I'll be interested in what ButteBag thinks, but a city of 25,000 with a few points of interest per w:Easton, Massachusetts#Points of interest seems far from a slam dunk for merging. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:09, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ikan Kekek I guess the only other context I can add (which I'm sure you already know, but just for posterity), it's just tough to see the 21 towns at Bristol-Norfolk and make an informed choice about what to click on. We do have non-merge options of course. We could add some UX improvements to let users know if they're going to get a no content article. We could add more sub-regions or break up the list of towns in some other way. We could wait for a more knowledgeable user to add content. For me it makes the most sense to merge some low-no content articles in a way that allows them to be easily resurrected if some diligent contributor eventually comes along. This way today's reader is not disappointed, and today's contributor won't be confused about where to contribute. ButteBag (talk) 13:10, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm not disputing that, but could more points of interest viably be added, considering what's in the Wikipedia article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:38, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yep. There are missing POIs in basically all the articles I've added merge tags to. ButteBag (talk) 00:47, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
What I foresee is that the larger cities among the ones you've decided to merge for now can all be viable articles, and anyone could create listings from the points of interest mentioned on Wikipedia, but restaurants and so forth would be a bit harder. Unfortunately, I really lack the time to devote to turning any of these into viable articles now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:21, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Upon closer inspection, we might want to merge this with Mansfield (Massachusetts). Taunton is much further away and it's also separated by a large highway. I had originally suggester Taunton based on what someone else had written in the sleep section. ButteBag (talk) 20:51, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
