Name change

[edit]

I'd like to change this article's name to Harry Reid International Airport right away, because McCarran was an odious red-baiter and anti-Semite, but these things require consensus. The analogous Wikipedia article was already changed to w:Harry Reid International Airport, but I don't see any thorough discussion at w:Talk:Harry Reid International Airport. Is the former McCarran name so ingrained in local parlance that the new name won't catch on quickly, even though everyone in Nevada knows who Senator Harry Reid was, whereas a lot of people probably don't remember Senator McCarran? No opinions? Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:03, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm ambivalent about this since I don't know about either of those senators. The dog2 (talk) 03:35, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
That's not the point. The point is, the name of the airport was recently changed. Is there a good reason not to change the article name? Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:47, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
If the official name was changed, then yes, that's a good reason to change the article name, with a redirect left under the old name. The dog2 (talk) 03:50, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Move and redirect. The name has officially changed. I do think the mention of the old name in the article is good, and should resolve any confusion. JakeOregon (talk) 04:12, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Cool. Any opposition to a move? Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:17, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
