Should this article be merged with Jiyuugaoka? They sound very similar, even the same place. - (WT-en) Huttite 05:06, 24 November 2009 (EST)

Both Jiyuugaoka and Jiyugaoka mean the same place in Tokyo.Editor should put Jiyuugaoka page into Jiyugaoka.

Seconded. Jiyuugaoka should merge into Jiyugaoka. Also, Jiyugaoka should NOT be merged with Meguro. The two are pretty distant and separated by lots of neighborhood and other towns. It's nice to have each small town broken down since they really are like little islands in a sea of houses and train tracks. "Meguro" is both a city and a ward (much bigger and covers other cities as well). The ward is probably named after Meguro city. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 58.95.13.184 (talkcontribs)

Thirded? They are one and the same, but definitely distinct from Meguro. I've worked up a pretty good draft of the two combined and cleaned up, but didn't do anything with it yet. The old Tokyo district problem. There is more than enough to keep you busy for a day or an afternoon in and around Jiyugaoka, but just need time to add more information. As-is, this is now about as complete as some long-time Tokyo districts. See User:(WT-en) Ted/Scratchpad#Drafts (WT-en) Ted 22:29, 27 August 2010 (EDT)
Hope I didn't jump the gun, but I went ahead and merged the two, putting the Redirect from Jiyuugaoka to here. Not done a Redirect before, so I hope I got it right. Next question is Merge or District? Geographically this is in Meguro and Setagaya Wards, but functionally it stands on its own with a distinct identity. I'd like to move it to the correct Tokyo namespace to be a district Tokyo/Jiyugaoka. See little point in merging with Meguro to then split it out again later. There are so many good eating, drinking, and shopping options here that I just haven't gotten to yet--much more than actually in the immediate Meguro Station area. Realized I left the Merge edit as "Minor" in error, so unticking Minor here in case anyone wants a look. Thanks! (WT-en) Ted 20:11, 28 August 2010 (EDT)

@ChubbyWimbus: This article was tagged for merging in 2010, but per the above comments it sounds like there is a dispute about merging this to Tokyo/Meguro. Can anyone comment on whether the merge tag should be removed, or whether a merge is still the correct outcome? -- Ryan (talk) 22:50, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

As far as current districtification is concerned, this belongs in Meguro. Meguro Station and Jiyugaoka Station are only 11 minutes away by train, so even if there are little enclaves between them, they are by no means far from one another. If someone wants this to be its own article, they should suggest redistricting Tokyo, but neither this article nor the main Meguro article are very developed, I'd say for now it should be merged. At the moment, this article is mostly just restaurants and a few Buys, so it's not as if merging would make it so troubling to districtify again later if need be.
