Lake Atitlán as Region article[edit]

I think we should turn the Lake Atitlán article into a "region" in the geographical hierarchy. This means that this article follows the region article template, that all the towns around the lake are listed under Cities in this article, and that every one of those city articles has an IsIn tempate pointing to this article. I propose that every hotel, restaurant, etc that is outside any of the towns in the region be put here. For hotels etc that are in towns which have no article yet, I suggest that we create the article, even if it's a stub. I'm starting some editing to implement this. If anyone has suggestions or comments, please add them in here. (WT-en) JimDeLaHunt 19:07, 19 November 2006 (EST)

Part of the reason for making the Lake Atitlán article a proper regional article is to answer objections on Talk:Panajachel against listing regional hotels and attractions, which aren't in Panajachel proper, in the Panajachel article. (WT-en) JimDeLaHunt 19:07, 19 November 2006 (EST)

Every article for a city or town in the Lake Atitlán region should have the following text at the bottom of the article. This is an IsIn template reference. It marks the article as being in the Lake Atitlán region, and sets up the breadcrumb navigation at the top of the article to include Lake Atitlán. The text is:

{{IsIn|Lake_Atitl%C3%A1n}}

Update much needed[edit]

Re:

On the road around the Lago de Atitlán, especially between the villages of San Juan and San Marcos, some daytime violent crime has been reported (Nov 2004)

- info is almost from 20 years ago!

It's probably best to simply delete such old information. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:10, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
