Ormeno Bus Company[edit]

I recently took a trip with Ormeno from Arequipa to Puno based on this page's description of it as 'more reputable.' I think Ormeno should be removed from that list. On the way there, the main passenger door was hanging open throughout the trip and the bus was generally in a bad state. Then on the way back, I got to the bus station at 7:30pm to be told that my ticket, marked 8:00 pm, was no good as the last bus had left at 7:00 pm. I then had to argue to get my money back. The alternative bus I took (with Julsa) provided basically the same quality service at 40% lower cost, so I don't think Ormeno should be singled out as a good company. If other people have had different experiences, please post back and I'll leave the page as it is. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 200.60.148.181 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for taking the time to explain the situation. Based on this account I'd suggest updating the page as you see fit. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 15:04, 18 August 2010 (EDT)

Images[edit]

Well, if (WT-en) TUser really insists on his image with the sea lions, then at least it should be thumbed. Anyway, I'm really not yet convinced that we need a (lovely) picture of sea lions in the Lima article. As the Project:Image policy says, the use of images should be kept to a minimum. Furthermore, the image should give an impression of the place to the reader. The sea lion picture does not so, since it only shows sea lions the could be photographed on any other place, too. There is nothing to see about Lima or the Isla Palomino on this picture, and thus it is worthless for travel information, thought very nice to look at. -- (WT-en) Hansm 07:07, 2004 Sep 25 (EDT)

I think it's fine as a thumb. You can't actually find sea lions just anywhere. I've never seen on in Lausanne for instance. There might be some in Paris at the zoo, but I dunno.
So unless there's a more Lima-centric photo which is being displaced by this one I figure it's fine to keep. -- (WT-en) Mark 09:09, 25 Sep 2004 (EDT)

Hi, 65.10.69.63, good detail infos! Looks as if you have Wikipedia experience. I have unlinked the boobies and cormorants, since we don't link as much as WP does. See Project:Welcome, Wikipedians for details. -- (WT-en) Hansm 05:48, 2004 Sep 26 (EDT)

I think this article is very close about the things you'll find if you go to Lima. Clear advices and quick information about everthing. I think this article will be useful for anyone who can go to Lima. I was there :D (WT-en) Alhen 11:00, 16 March 2006 (EST)

I'm from Lima (From La Victoria, actually!) and the article is very accurate, except where it says that Lima is the second largest city in Peru after Callao. Don't know under which criteria, because if we talk demographics or extension there is no larger city in Peru (in fact, there are few as large in the world)

How did u get to the conclussion that In general Peru is a highly conservative country? Im peruvian (from Jesus Maria) I think were not so conservative. =/ mmmmm.... if u have something to sya let me know in [1] Skippan Tu/ 5 /2007

The "Sleep" section has some atrocious advertisements, which are not very objective. The worst seems to be the "Red Psycho" or whatever it is called, which was obviously done by the owner or an employee. Some of the others need work as well, preferably by someone who has been there and will not just write an advertisement. (WT-en) Amssports06 12:54, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Vandalism/sabotaging on the Lima page[edit]

<swept in from the pub>

Hi,

if you look at the recent history of the Lima page, one guy has been vandalising it repeatedly in an attempt to publicize his taxi company (akatori). Not only has he been adding links to it in wrong sections (like "get in by plane") but, much worse, he has been sabotaging other companies coordinates by subtly changing phone numbers and internet addresses. I wanted to nominate him for a ban, but he uses different ips every time (probably operating from peruvian internet cafes). Is it possible to semi-protect the page, and where should I ask for it? Thanks. --(WT-en) Nattfodd 05:16, 4 May 2009 (EDT)

There is a strong preference on Wikivoyage that we handle this sort of problem with conventional means that anyone can use, that is, by simply watchlisting the page and reverting the unwanted edits. Thanks for keeping an eye on this particular problem; I'll add it to my watchlist too and try to chip in. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 05:49, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
But if this gets totally out of control (and it's not there yet), it's possible to add his company and its phone numbers to the Project:Local spam blacklist. (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:50, 4 May 2009 (EDT)
Ok, thanks for your replies. I will also keep it on my watchlist and try and revert stuff as soon as it happens. Let's hope the guy understands that his efforts are pointless. --(WT-en) Nattfodd 05:40, 5 May 2009 (EDT)
