Massive List[edit]

I added a massive list of cities to work on. They need to be migrated to the subregions by anyone familar with which subregion they belong to. -- (WT-en) Colin 18:56, 28 June 2006 (EDT)

I got it down to the following, so if anyone knows where these go please include them in the appropriate sub-region. I'm wondering if Commerce should be the City of Commerce?

Yeah, Commerce and City of Commerce are the same thing -- check out the city logo at WikiPedia:Commerce, California. I caught the same problem with City of Industry which is technically Industry, California. -- (WT-en) Colin 19:51, 28 June 2006 (EDT)
OK, with the help of Google Maps I think that finishes it. There were a few border cases, and something as far up the coast as Malibu might be better in its own region, but this should be good enough. -- (WT-en) Ryan 20:02, 28 June 2006 (EDT)
Google Maps? Google Earth is the best video game evar. -- (WT-en) Colin 20:04, 28 June 2006 (EDT)

West Side[edit]

I (and other local reseidents) would distinguish between the Westside and the Beaches - roughly divided east and west of Interstate 405. Haven't made the change yet, am considering.--(WT-en) Justfred 18:37, 4 October 2006 (EDT)

Hey Fred, I just saw this after I made some little changes, sort of... there seemed to be 2 pages covering the same thing - Los Angeles/West and West Side (Los Angeles). The former obviously grew from expanding the LA city article, while the latter made from working down and creating regions from LA County. LA the city is sort of a tough one to districtify, since the city itself is so oddly shaped and so integrated into the random areas that have been given their own cityhood like West Hollywood, etc.
So I moved all the info to Los Angeles/West, as I think that it makes more sense for the traveler to treat that as a region of the city. I think I agree about distinguishing between the beaches and the Westside also. I'm also wondering if West Hollywood is indeed part of the westside, since it sort of straddles the line physically and consciously. Mid-Wilshire is definitely not part of the Westside.
Anyway, just thought I would continue your discussion here before I put anymore work into that page... (WT-en) Cacahuate 12:28, 21 December 2006 (EST)
Hi. We worked this out a long time ago on Talk:Southern California/Hierarchy, which has a lot of great info. Please keep West Side cities in West Side (Los Angeles County) rather than as a pseudo-district in Los Angeles/West. I realize that there are a few dupes still lying around for some broken hierarchies -- especially ones that consider everything in Southern California as parts of the city of Los Angeles. --(WT-en) Evan 12:47, 21 December 2006 (EST)
