Talk:Monterey (California)
Is there another Monterey that we need to disambiguate from? Monterrey in Mexico has 2 r's, if I'm not mistaken. --(WT-en) Evan 14:36, 10 Jan 2006 (EST)
What's wrong with Highway 17? I'd avoid it during rush hour, but at other times it's a fun rally-car style experience. I drove it every day to high school.
- Feel free to upgrade the description from my hyper-conservative viewpoint. If you can add appropriate language to give people the ability to choose the route based on their tastes, so much the better. -- (WT-en) Colin 22:51, 29 May 2006 (EDT)
- I commuted over 17 every day for a summer when I was at USCS with a summer gig in San Jose (writing for the Metro). I had no trouble at all until my very last day of work when a semi went all sideways and rolled over a couple of cars behind me-- I drove back that the long way that evening. That said, I think the warning could be toned down a wee bit. Maybe mention that it is not for the faint of heart, 'specially in bad weather... but n-thousands of folks do manage it on a daily basis... (WT-en) Majnoona 23:53, 29 May 2006 (EDT)
Updating the page
[edit]OK, just back from my vacation to Monterey, California. I am not sure what route these pages take on certain aspects, but some warnings may need to be made about travel for a short while for Highway 1. Perhaps a template advising road construction in the appropriate pages. This page may not be the right one, but perhaps Carmel or Big Sur. Anyway, I have some greatly improved, current and larger image files to upload to commons for use here.--Amadscientist (talk) 02:15, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- If the construction is going to be ongoing for some time then a note on the relevant city article pages would make sense, but if it's temporary or just the normal maintenance that goes on with the Pacific Coast Highway occasionally falling into the ocean the handling it within the normal article prose might be a better solution. -- Ryan • (talk) • 05:49, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Yellow pages
[edit]Sleep looks like the yellow pages as there are almost 20 hotels without any description at all (BTW not bad for a town of 28,000). I'll move those to this talk page in a couple of days if nobody objects. ϒpsilon (talk) 20:46, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'd support that, unless anyone adds descriptions to those listings in the interim. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:08, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
Accommodation lacking description
[edit]Moved here per the thread above. If you can add a description to any of them, please do, and after that you can move it back to the article. ϒpsilon (talk) 20:56, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
