Talk:Northern Armenia

Khorakert and Khuchapi monasteries are covered in detail 3 times considering the province and city pages for Alaverdi and Stephanavan; Akhtala monastery is covered in detail twice considering the province page and Alaverdi city page. Is it a bit much? Or maybe it's desired that way due to their significance. I don't know, it's written up well with lots of images, so maybe it's the best this way.Lazarus1255 (talk) 13:18, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, they should be covered in the article for the city closest to them. They can be nention briefly in the Go Next section of other articles. Having coverage in more than one article increases the risk of Wikivoyage contradicting itself if one article is updated (opening hours, prices, for example) while the others are not.Ground Zero (talk) 16:13, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay, thanks, I'll see if I can do some merging/consolidating - I hate to wreck someone's writing, but hopefully most of it will be preserved. Lazarus1255 (talk) 19:50, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the detailed listings to the city pages, and removed the "move to city" tag. Ground Zero (talk) 07:02, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Debed Canyon[edit]

I am moving the monuments of Debed Canyon into their own section in the main Northern Armenia page. Most of them are not even close to Alaverdi, and have nothing to do with it. If there are duplicate listings, we can decide where main/detailed listing should be, and where mere mentions and references should go. --RaffiKojian (talk) 08:10, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear RaffiKojian, thanks for you edits of the Debed Canyon. It was necesssary to create this article, good thing. 👍 However, I see that there is now way too much duplication created by listing of the monestaries (for example) in the canyon under all three articles: Alaverdi, Debed Canyon and Northern Armenia. This is bad pratice and bares the danger that content is not consistently updated throughout all of WV. Hence, such listings should really only appear once in WV: If they belong to Alaverdi town, they should be listed there, otherwise in the Debed Canyon article. The region article should then not contain them as a listing anymore but should mention them in a summarising paragraph referring to the Debed Canyon for more details.
@Ground Zero, would you agree with this point of view? I saw you commented already above, sharing a similar concern as I do.

That makes sense, yeah. But it's hard to figure out how an area like this should be organized, since ALaverdi for example is in Debed Canyon, and so does Sanahin Monastery for example get listed in Alaverdi or Debed Canyon? Perhaps for example Alaverdi just gets a bullet list with the names, and the info is all under Debed Canyon?? If there's a similar region somewhere else in the world where this has been dealt with neatly, I'd like to see how they've managed it. RaffiKojian (talk) 13:55, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
