Portville & Allegheny, NY[edit]

I'm a local trying to update a few pages. A number of sites listed on the Olean page are not actually in Olean (St. Bonaventure, Pfeiffer Nature Center, just off the top of my head). I don't necessarily think either is large enough to warrant their own page, but may be worth mentioning that these places are not in Olean or otherwise note the scope of the sites on the page.

Additionally, a number of businesses listed do not exist (notably ones with the dead links) WoodlWizard77 (talk) 03:19, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your updates and additions so far! It's true, city articles often include places in nearby villages that are too small for their own articles. For those listings it's useful to mention the village's name with the address (like how the address of St. Bonaventure University Bonnies Athletics is currently given as "3261 W State Rd, St Bonaventure"). Sometimes near the beginning of an article it might be worth saying something to the effect of "This article also covers the nearby towns of X and Y." And in some cases it can be useful to describe a listing's location in more detail or make a "Nearby" subsection for the listings that aren't in town (you can see an example at Colonia#Nearby). There is flexibility and room for case-by-case judgement – feel free to plunge forward and do what you think makes sense for travellers. —Granger (talk · contribs) 03:41, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
