Flora and fauna (was: Olympic National Park)

I'm working on Olympic National Park, however because of the parks wide range of climates and landscapes (from glacial mountains to coastal areas with large migrations of mammals) the Flora and fauna section is going to be huge. I'm hoping someone has some examples of other national parks with large Flora and fauna sections, or some insights on how I can better organize this section? --Lumpytrout (talk) 16:31, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

In general I think we try to leave excessive detail to Wikipedia and keep those sections to a few paragraphs each in order to avoid overwhelming a traveler with detail. In addition, for a lot of parks details about the mountains and animals can be partially covered under "See" and "Do" since (for example) an activity might be seeing bison in a specific park location or hiking through the mountains at another location. For an example that uses the park article sub-sections for a broad range of habitats, Natchez Trace Parkway traverses several states and some very different zones, and while the sub-sections under "Understand" are probably a little TOO brief, it does give some idea of how to include a lot of different information in a condensed form.

All that said, if you want to try including a lot of information about Olympic then experiment a bit, just try to keep it travel-relevant so that we aren't duplicating the Wikipedia article content. -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:37, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

okay, cool. I looked around a bit and came up with some ideas. It's tough keeping it brief when there is so much to say. Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve for example is a National Reserve but it encompasses 2 state parks and all the info you would need as a traveler is not in one place (including wikipedia).
