Deletion of this article[edit]

This article does not fall under wikivoyage criteria for an article. I will be nominating it for deletion. The content could be included in page of the relevant city. (WT-en) Cardboardbird 03:31, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

So i just read the what is the article guidelines, and i understand that city parks are not included but this park is also considered a National Historic District, so I believe this article should NOT be deleted. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Cristin mar (talkcontribs)
Is this article being created as part of a school course of some sort? It looks like there have been a number of new articles created for New England towns in the past week.
With respect to the question of merging it into Providence, how difficult would it be to merge the content? Is there any downside to doing so? As you've indicated, there could be some argument made for keeping this separate, but it sets a bad precedent as typically we try to consolidate city information into single articles. About the only city park I can think of with its own article is Central Park, but that's a massive park that one could write an exhaustive guide about; even Golden Gate Park (which is much larger and more diverse than Roger William Park) does not have its own article. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 00:57, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

I've protected this article against anonymous edits for ten minutes - to the anonymous user, please stop removing the merge & vfd notices. As they clearly state:

  • "Please do not remove this merge notice without first discussing on the talk page." (merge)
  • "Please note that removing this message won't stop the article from being deleted; it will just make it harder to discuss the deletion." (delete)

Wikis are collaborative tools, and there are processes and guidelines in place that govern what gets its own article, how deletions are handled, etc. Please use this talk page to discuss your concerns rather than trying to force changes to be made. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 01:31, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

yes this is part of a school project, but there is no point on arguing with you because you obviously have your mind set up on deleting this page. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Cristin mar (talkcontribs)
The VFD notice means the article has been nominated for deletion. Wikivoyage policy is that once an article is nominated there are 14 days to come to some consensus on keeping or deleting it. If the VFD notice on the article is removed, anyone seeing this article will be unaware that it has been nominated and no discussion can take place. That's why the notice about not removing the template is provided. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 00:12, 29 October 2010 (EDT)

VFD Discussion[edit]

Stand alone article for a park in Providence, Rhode Island. Doesn't meet WT article criteria. There is some ok looking content that could be incorporated into the relevant city article. - (WT-en) Cardboardbird 03:35, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

Result: Merge tag added for Providence/South Providence. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 15:31, 27 November 2010 (EST)
