Where to redirect, or whether to redirect at all
[edit]As of now Sahara redirects to Sahel. But this is not entirely correct as the Sahara desert covers much of North Africa too. Would it perhaps be better to redirect to Africa instead, make it an extraregion, or maybe a disambiguation page like marshrutka where both Sahel and North Africa are mentioned? - Extraregion, probably. Since it overlaps parts of both Sahel and North Africa, and also is a well known region name — this is almost a perfect example of an extraregion as defined at the policy page. The Sahel article was moved to this name from Saharan Africa in January 2010; this redirect should be a legacy of the time before the move. Vidimian (talk) 20:31, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
- The Sahel (/səˈhɛl/)[1] is the ecoclimatic and biogeographic zone of transition in Africa between the Sahara Desert to the north and the Sudanian Savanna to the south.
- Extraregion seems like the obvious solution, with a mention of all the countries that have parts of the Sahara within their territory. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:31, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
