Perth should not be in this section, it is already listed in "North East Scotland". 161.12.7.4 07:20, 1 August 2007 (EDT)

Regions

[edit]

It has been suggested as a problem to have the similarly named Highland (Scotland) region as a subregion of this one, and some redividing and/or renaming of districts is in order. AlasdairW made the suggestion at Talk:Highland (Scotland):

I see the problem with having two regions with almost the same name - I wonder if the answer is to rename this region. I had thought of North Highlands, but that is a town in California; North West Highlands is fairly accurate, but a bit of a mouthful and might not appeal to those on the East Coast. An alternative might be to split the region into three smaller areas, with names based on former counties: Caithness and Sutherland, Ross and Cromarty and Lochaber and Badenoch - exact names to be refined. I am happy for the merge tag to be removed at the moment.

I don't personally know enough about it to have a strong opinion. If it's to be simply renamed, I think Northwest Highlands (two words rather than three as above) would sound fine. Or perhaps it is indeed better to split it into three subregions. The large number of cities/villages for which have articles would indicate that the division could be a little more fine-grained. With 56 destination articles under Scottish Highlands as a whole, it likely needs to be split into more than the three regions AlasdairW suggested. If there are six former counties here, it might make sense to have each one be its own region article? Texugo (talk) 21:56, 3 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
