Counties[edit]
Can we axe the counties list? I feel that this region is highly unlikely to ever be subdivided into county articles, and besides that unlikely possibility, a flat list of county names is highly irrelevant for the traveller. (WT-en) Texugo 23:18, 27 January 2009 (EST)

Cities List[edit]
Cleaning up the cities lists for all the Colorado regions. The three largest communities, Delta, Gunnison and Montrose are not represented here, and the list is highly centered on the southwestern part of the region. I know that the counties were removed from this region, but can someone create some sub regions or suggest better names for regions that the counties, so that I don't need to foist places like the orphan page Cedaredge onto an article that has a full list of bigger places. - (WT-en) Huttite 08:50, 13 November 2009 (EST)
- Individual county pages would not make for a very good subdivision—there are too many, and each on its own would have extremely little content. But I agree that adding tiny outline cities to the main list of such a good region article would be undesirable. I'll take a stab at a division, keeping in mind my limited knowledge of the region, but I'm sure (WT-en) Bill would know better how best to do this:
- Ute and Mesa Verde Country in the extreme west/southwest
- Rio Grande Mountains in the east/southeast
- Durango and the San Juan Mountains between the two above regions
- Gunnison and Western Ski Slopes

Population centers in this region are few and far between, with repeats of the orphaned Cedaredge rather unlikely. If Wikivoyage stressed "outdoors" attractions, a subdivision would certainly be justified; this region is a hiker's/RVer's/river-runner's paradise and has very distinct sub-regional flavors worth differentiating. With a focus more "urban" in nature, I don't see the value added. But I'll look at these regions and make some comments by the end of the weekend. - OK, on looking at this a bit more, I think that Cedaredge is in fact a good diagnostic on what it would mean to do this "right." In Colorado, as with most of the Rocky Mountain states (including New Mexico, which isn't formally part of our Rocky Mountains region), county lines make for a notably poor way of splitting up a state or region, because the geographic, cultural, recreational identities of regions are dominated by their geology, not political constructs like county lines. I would claim that from practically any standpoint useful to a traveler other than simply locating it on a map, Cedaredge fits much better into Northwestern Colorado than into this region, because that's what it is like -- small town on the edge of Grand Mesa (the dominant feature of that part of the state) with the cultural and recreational opportunities that that implies.

- That said, if it really is necessary to subdivide this region (and I'm still not convinced that it is), your proposal should work with comparatively minor tweaking, except for one thing. I'd definitely want to do something to reduce the size of the Gunnison/Western Slopes region. One possibility might be to rename your "Rio Grande Mountains" region as the "High Rockies" region and extend it northward almost to Aspen. That accomplishes the goal of balancing the sizes, and is defensible on cultural/recreational grounds as well; it then captures the real backbone of Colorado in a way that should allow a sensible region article to be written. -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 23:24, 23 November 2009 (EST)
Car rental listings[edit]
The Wikivoyage standard is that if it's easy to rent a car, no listings are given, and I think that's probably particularly true at the regional level, where specific listings of anything usually aren't given.
