Maps[edit]

There is a dynamic map of Stavanger in the article. Kevinpaulscarrott has uploaded a beautiful static map of Stavanger that has his copyright on it and would like to include it in the article. It doesn't look to me like a Wikivoyage-style static map, but in fact much better than one. Can we use it? If so, are there more steps Kevin has to take per Wikivoyage:Copyleft, to prove he really is the one with the copyright? Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:19, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That is indeed a stunning map, way above the usual static maps we make for Wikivoyage. I think it would be a pity not to include it, especially since there is currently no static map available on this article. Furthermore Kevinpaulscarrott has mentioned on Ikan Kekek's talk page, that this is actually the official tourist map of Stavanger, which is an added benefit. I often notice (especially for transport maps), that official maps are copyrighted, so in this case where we actually have a map which we are free to use, we should do so. I rather agree. Could we possibly make an exception to include a map that's much better than Wikivoyage-style static maps? Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:24, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Fully support -- I have no issues using a non-WV map if it's better. -Shaundd (talk) 06:47, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Strategic, objective and constructive thinking, putting the Wikivoyage visitors firmly in first place. Impressive decision making from a volunteer group of well-informed caretakers. Always an immense pleasure contributing valued educational content to the Wikimedia global movement. Stavanger City Map constructed and designed by Kevin Paul Scarrott. I see at least a couple of these in the article. Should we delete the thumbnails? Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:32, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
