Travel focus?
[edit]The current content of this article is focused on the history of the canal and its importance for international trade. It then lists a few destinations along it. I don't see how it benefits travellers.
Either we should explain how you can travel through the canal (by freighter, cruiser or small craft) or we should tell how to learn about the canal. Are there museums on the canal in the mentioned cities? Where would be good views of the canal itself and its traffic? What else would travellers interested in the canal want to do?
At the moment the article lacks travel focus, and I don't know whether the author thought at all about who would read the article and how it would be used to plan travel, or what travel the article could make more interesting. Are people going here to see the canal?

- Yes to all you said, and it also needs a real itinerary with more stops in Egypt. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:54, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
Transit of the Suez Canal by yacht.
[edit]See this article in Yachting World for a brief account of taking a yacht through the canal. AlasdairW (talk) 00:19, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- User:AlasdairW, if that's relevant to Wikivoyage:Votes for deletion#Suez Route, I would suggest for you to post there as soon as possible, summarizing how someone could use that account to create a usable itinerary in this article. Would you like to do that work? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:32, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- At the moment I don't think we could use that to create a usable itinerary. We could add a sentence saying that adventurous yachters sometimes go through the canal under power, but it is important to thoroughly research this before planing a voyage. The account mentioned that a local agent was engaged some months in advance, and also says that when they were approaching the canal they were in radio contact with US warships patrolling the area. If you have to radio a warship to say "don't fire" then I don't think it is something we should write an article about. AlasdairW (talk) 15:12, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- Feel free to express that opinion in the votes for deletion thread, too. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:12, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
