Moved from Tirupati and Tirumala as Tirumala is the destination (ie we dont do San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge or Agra and the Taj). See Project:What is an article? for more. (WT-en) Majnoona 08:35, 5 Nov 2005 (EST)

Tirupati Page removal[edit]

This page should be removed. There is another page Tirupati and Tirumala which is more relevant. And I have updated this page extensively. Anybody, esp the moderators listening? I have linked the Madras page to Tirupati and Tirumala. (WT-en) Sridharpandu 11:00, 5 November 2005 (IST).

There aren't really "moderators" here, it's pretty much a community process. See Project:Votes for deletion for the deletion process, but you might want to read Project:What is an article? first. My inclination would be that there should be two articles, one for Tirupati and one for Tirumala. What is the reasoning for combining these places into one article? -- (WT-en) Ryan 00:33, 5 Nov 2005 (EST)
Tirupati is a major temple on Tirumala hill and there is a township on Tirumala, basically supporting the temple. If Tirumala were a destination of its own, then Tirupati could have been an article under the "really large attraction" exception. But the temple overshadows the town, so it makes sense to have one article --(WT-en) Ravikiran 00:57, 5 Nov 2005 (EST)
It sounds like there should be one article, Tirumala, since that is the actual destination (see Project:What is an article? for more), and Tirupati would be a large attraction. Even if it "overshadows" the town in terms of interest, the town is still where visitors will sleep, eat, etc. The only exception would be if the temple were a temple complex on scale with Angkor Wat or a wildlife area with it's own accomidations such as the Grand Canyon or Chitwan. I'll go ahead and add this to VfD if it hasn't been done yet. (WT-en) Majnoona 08:33, 5 Nov 2005 (EST)
I was misinformed on this. Tirupati is in fact the town at the foothills of Tirumala hills. The temple is on top of Tirumala. The title should be Tirupati, not Tirumala. When the article on the temple gets written under the "large attraction" exception, Tirumala can get redirected to it. --(WT-en) Ravikiran 10:42, 14 Jan 2006 (EST)

Copyvio history section[edit]

I removed the history section that had been copied from [1]. But it is still worth writing up the history of the place in your own words. I will do it sometime if no one attempts it earlier. --(WT-en) Ravikiran 11:38, 27 Dec 2005 (EST)
