To Usable/Guide[edit]

What more does this article need to become Usable, or is it already? And what more to become a Guide? Thanks to User:K7L for starting this article about what looks like a breathtaking route. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:12, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It may need at least an overview about what's actually on this route that's worth seeing. Something like Route 66 might be the right level of detail for an itinerary of this geographic length? K7L (talk) 01:20, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree, for it to become a Guide. However, it really is probably Usable now, in that enough info is provided for someone to be able to take this trip after reading. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:27, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please note the the Western terminus - Mile Zero - for the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway #16 is in Winnipeg (at The Forks) not Portage La Prairie. Also in Western Canada (Manitoba to BC) there are two mainline Trans Canada Highways, #1 and @16 (which also carries the monicker of Yellowhead Highway). Pls refer to www.goyellowhead.com and www.transcanadayellowhead.com. John W CAO TCYHA

Change orientation to East-to-West?[edit]

I'm wondering if the orientation of the Yellowhead Highway article should updated from its current west-to-east to east-to-west? I recognize highway articles are supposed to be written in west-to-east, but I feel the vast majority of travelers are likely to begin in Winnipeg and head west to Masset as opposed to the other way around. Also, the western-most 1,020 km (630 mi) of the Yellowhead Highway (Prince George and west) cannot be reasonably accessed from another highway, so the Yellowhead Highway is the only way in and places Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii function more as the "end of the line" than the beginning of the journey. I am willing to make the changes but was wondering if there were other thoughts. --MuzikMachine (talk) 14:49, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I'm weird, but my plan was to drive to Vancouver on the TCH, and return via the Yellowhead, but do what you think makes sense. Ground Zero (talk) 01:46, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ground Zero: I was more thinking for the northern route (Hwy 16). Going to Vancouver and returning via the Yellowhead is completely doable....unless you're taking a ferry to Prince Rupert? --MuzikMachine (talk) 23:39, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, not that. The plan is Toronto -> Whitehorse -> Vancouver-> Toronto. And rent an SUV in Whitehorse to go down the Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk. But with the P.1 variant taking over BC and Alberta, it seems unlikely now. Another year, maybe. Ground Zero (talk) 17:12, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
