Örebro County vs Västmanland and Närke
[edit][Moved from Talk:Sweden]
For Sweden, the provinces (landskap) and counties (län) have been used interchangeably as regions. Those that cover largely the same territory (Dalarna etc) are a clear case. The provinces might be more useful as they describe the cultural identity; the counties however handle public transportation, and in some cases tourist information. Örebro County is not an apparent region. Would you prefer to use it over the western half of Västmanland and Närke? /Yvwv (talk) 14:45, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say let's keep the region division the way it is otherwise we have to change maps, breadcrumbs and whatnot. Örebro County was added by a new user who likely isn't completely aware of how our districtification works. Örebro County and other counties that stretch across province borders can be turned into disambiguation pages. --Ypsilon (talk) 14:53, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- I can't agree with you though. All official information about cultural landmarks, naturals reserves and other places of visit is located on the official websites of kommuns and these places are managed and taken care of kommuns also. You are using "landskap" like they are presented in travel books. However quite a lot of interesting objects are missed due to this categorization because it is not clear to which landskap area they belong. My idea was to provide as much info as possible and as clear as possible. However if you want to keep it you way - it's your choice. --Katarinaassam (talk) 16:27, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- We've placed municipalities (kommuner) in the provinces where they're located (or can municipalities be in two different counties?). I do agree that it's complicated when Sweden has two overlapping systems of region divisions. --Ypsilon (talk) 17:28, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Yvwv:, I think we should turn Örebro County into a disambiguation or would maybe an extraregion be better? --Ypsilon (talk) 18:44, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

- I’ve added the extraregion template for now, but since we’ve resolved Schleswig-Holstein region maybe we could focus on a change to the Sweden region hierarchy. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:42, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
