Template talk:Handicap-icon
Justification
[edit]Some time ago an editor updated several listings in the Yosemite National Park to include "handicap accessible" icons and info about accessibility. While this is a great addition for the many park visitors with limited mobility, when I recently updated those icons to remove the wikilink as an SEO test (link=
) it triggered a bug in the listing editor that made the listings uneditable. Implementing the handicap icon as a template fixes the problem and is easier to read - instead of haing [[File:Handicap reverse blue background.svg|text-bottom|15px|link=|frameless]]
in a bunch of listings, we now have the simpler {{handicap-icon}}
. Hopefully this template will be uncontroversial, but starting this discussion to allow for feedback per WV:Using MediaWiki templates#New MediaWiki template proposals. -- Ryan • (talk) • 18:25, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think I like this idea. Could it be renamed "Wheelchair accessible", and limited to that specific use? An arrangement that works for a wheelchair user won't necessarily work for a person with other problems. For example, a wheelchair accessible bus stop is a good thing, but it's not useful if you walk onto the wrong bus because you couldn't read the route number on the bus, and there was no audible announcement.
