What is this?
[edit]What does this template do? --(WT-en) Ricardo (Rmx) 13:31, 23 August 2006 (EDT)
- It's same as WikiPedia:Template:Lang. See WikiPedia:Template talk:Lang and WikiPedia:User:Wikipeditor/CJK for details. Primarily, it allows browsers to render some languages/scripts correctly/more appropriately. --(WT-en) Episteme 15:09, 23 August 2006 (EDT)
Example
[edit] {{lang|fr|Je suis Français.}} {{lang|en-CA|How's it going, eh?}}
Results in your browser: Je suis Français. How's it going, eh?
Why is this not used more?
[edit]Is this not something that we should be using all over the place? There are currently only about 180 articles that use it... Texugo (talk) 12:31, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- Probably because it is extremely subtle. I do get why it is useful, but not sure how we would really promote this. Andrewssi2 (talk) 12:54, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- If it were mentioned in our guidelines and at times in the Pub, I suppose more regulars would come to know it. –LPfi (talk) 16:43, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Documentation to /doc?
[edit]Part of the documentation is now on the template page proper, not on the /doc subpage. Is there some reason? Can it simply be cut-and-pasted over? –LPfi (talk) 16:46, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
