The Negro Motorist's Green Book, often referred to as simply the Green Book, was a travel guide published in the early to mid 20th Century dedicated to helping black families find safe places to vacation in the United States of America.

Many locations mentioned in the book remain to this day as environments where blacks would likely feel comfortable.

Massachusetts

The entire state of Massachusetts is a great place to be African-American, but perhaps the best parts of the state overall for black families are the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Mentioned in the original Green Book, Martha's Vineyard in particular was a popular vacation spot for black families during the Jim Crow Era and remains that way today. In addition, the islands were a major stop on the Underground Railroad.
