User talk:(WT-en) Flowergirl
Add topicHello!
[edit]Hello Flowergirl! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thank you for all the lovely photos today. Just as a tip, Wikivoyage prefers that you upload images to Wikivoyage Shared rather than the English language Wikivoyage version so that other language versions have easy access to your images. Have you been to Baku recently? Please feel free to let me know if you need any help with anything. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 23:34, 11 July 2007 (EDT)
Pictures!
[edit]Kudos on the pictures! They are great! (WT-en) Cupcakecommander 23:54, 11 July 2007 (EDT)
Florida status
[edit]I notice that you left a query on (WT-en) Cacahuate's talk page. I believe the "tag" you are refering to is the outline tag. The Project:Article status page will help you understand status tags better. If an article has moved beyond the outline status, it should be tagged with the {{usable}} status. (The next status is Guide and if the article is almost perfect, it gets called a Star). To figure out if Florida deserves to move to the next level, you need to check out Project:Region guide status (because a state is a "region" by Wikivoyage's definition.) Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else! — (WT-en) Ravikiran 00:53, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
Wikivoyage Shared
[edit]Hey, could you make sure that all of your pictures are in Wikivoyage shared? I'm having trouble with Baku's Japanese section and some of the pictures. Thanks! (WT-en) Cupcakecommander 02:12, 23 July 2007 (EDT)
....Sorry about those pictures. They were the first ones that I added, and I did not know about the wikivoyage shared. I have since been adding to wikivoyage shared.(WT-en) Flowergirl 20:42, 27 July 2007 (EDT)
The two pictures that need to be added to wikivoyage shared are Skyline.jpg and Baku_Metro_7.jpg. Thanks a bunch, I really am glad that people are adding to the Azerbaijan site!! (WT-en) Cupcakecommander 01:47, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
.....I tried to upload them via share but someone send me message that they are going to delete as it was uploaded already.

Busch Gardens
[edit]Hi, thanks for starting the article about Busch Gardens, but unfortunately Wikivoyage does not have independent articles for individual attractions such as for amusement parks (except if they are absolutely huge and have accommodation), so I'm afraid I've had to delete and redirect to the Tampa article. For your reference, please take a look at this article: Project:What is an article?. Sorry about that, but keep contributing, and if you have any questions please ask me or any of the regular contributors. (WT-en) WindHorse 12:39, 30 July 2007 (EDT)
....Thanks for the advice. I fully understand and no problem with your deleting it. I will read further. This has been my first attempt at actually adding to the article and it will take a little hit and miss until I get it correct. Please keep helping.

Images voted for deletion
[edit]Don't worry, (WT-shared) Tatata is a very sharp administrator, and he just happened to catch a few things you overlooked. The list of images currently being reviewed for deletions is here, I think only 3 of your images have been voted for deletion. This image is especially tricky because it is basically free content, and if we notify the photographer, we could use it on this site, but because businesses could then not print it out and distribute it, it does not comply with our copyleft. The best way to avoid a problem like this is to limit your Flickr "advanced search" to (1) only Creative Commons content (2) that you can use commercially and (3) can be modified and adapted—if you click all three of these boxes, only images we can use here should come up (unless someone on Flickr made a mistake!).
The other ones up for deletion are duplicates of images already uploaded to shared. In the future, you can check to see what photos have already been uploaded by looking at the categories (like wts:Category:Miami). You can browse the categories on Wikivoyage Shared by clicking on one of the continent links on the main page of shared. I hope this helps and don't let yourself get frustrated! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 21:35, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
- No need to reupload any duplicates—they were duplicates of original images (I think both were uploaded by User:(WT-en) Fastestdogever and are still available at wts:Category:Miami. By the way, I really liked the photos you uploaded of the modernizing Miami skyline and cuban food ;)
- You can request a username change at wts:Requests for username change. I'm actually not sure if you will retain credit for the work you have done as Flowergirl, though, but you could ask that question as part of your request. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 21:25, 1 August 2007 (EDT)
Email and finding your contributions
[edit]Hello again! To correspond with someone by email, try going to their user page and look on the left toolbar. If they have enabled this option, you can send them an email directly (although you also have to have enabled this email option in your own preferences).
The best way to find a discussion you contributed is to look in your contributions. There is a link to your contributions at the top right of your screen. I think the discussion you were referring to is Project:Listings#Web/email format. Don't worry, no discussion is for admins only, all users are fully equal in all discussions, and you definitely were not being ignored—as a matter of fact I believe it was your who initially started that discussion. Unfortunately, though, it looked like we would be unable to reach a consensus, so we just sort of gave up and turned our attention to other tasks more easily accomplished! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 22:20, 3 August 2007 (EDT)
Would like to get your comments. Please see this talk page. Thanks. (WT-en) OldPine 10:51, 4 August 2007 (EDT)
Again, if you'd offer an opinion. (WT-en) OldPine 15:30, 4 August 2007 (EDT)
I just noticed your question on Peter's talk page about the huge long restaurant list in this article, and will take the liberty of answering even though you didn't ask me. Yeah, IMO, that list is excessive; see Project:Don't tout, which focuses in on precisely the issues you've identified. But you don't need to ask permission to fix it! Just plunge forward and do what you think needs to be done. I'd start by removing the obvious puffery, and leaving as much about menu, etc., as fits into 4 lines or less per restaurant -- that's about the goal and avoids the "Too Much Information" (TMI) pitfall. OK? Go for it, and thanks for your interest in improving this article! -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 14:00, 4 August 2007 (EDT)
- OK, we're on the same wavelength here. (BTW, it's better to send "talk" replies to the "discussion" page, rather than the "user" page, i.e., to User talk:(WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill rather than User:(WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill.) I'd recommend leaving the number of restaurants as is (unless there are some there that you know are stinkers), and maybe group them by cuisine within a price range if the list is getting too long; check out e.g. Albuquerque for an example of how to do that. Then just de-tout what's there, and the resulting article will look right. Go do good stuff! :-) -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 15:27, 4 August 2007 (EDT)
