Hello Nrms! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. (WT-en) cacahuate talk 14:46, 22 September 2008 (EDT)

Good janitorial work

[edit]

Just wanted to say thanks for all the anti-vandalism/spam edits you're doing! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 15:34, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

No prob Peter. Gives me something to do :) Just need to try and get my teeth into some article writing - just that takes more time and creativity. (WT-en) Nrms 15:37, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
And a "me too" from me! Keep this up and you'll be an administrator in no time. (WT-en) Jpatokal 07:51, 10 November 2008 (EST)
Cheers :) Always glad to help, and nice to be appreciated. (WT-en) Nrms 06:44, 11 November 2008 (EST)

Niagara Frontier

[edit]

Hi, Nrms. Thanks for your comments on the Niagara Frontier map. I've posted on that talk page a new version of the map, could you take a look and see if that addresses your concerns? =) Thanks! (WT-en) LtPowers 09:15, 13 November 2008 (EST)

Just had a quick look here at work, and both look fine :-\ I suspect I last looked at home, where I have a CRT monitor (the work one is an LCD). I'll have another look at home and see what I think :) (WT-en) Nrms 09:22, 13 November 2008 (EST)

Thank you

Hey, got your message just as I saw the VfD discussion, to which I've already replied. I think engaging Govrin in communication is the best course, which I see you've done. Thanks for that. The article has been stable since you left your most recent message on his talk page. If he continues to remove the vfd tag, I'll add my voice to yours on his talk page. (WT-en) LtPowers 10:41, 16 December 2008 (EST)

Cheers. Just trying to be a little cautious after recent events on here and not over-step the line as an "ordinary" user :) (WT-en) Nrms 10:43, 16 December 2008 (EST)

I'm surprised to hear that there wasn't anything in EE's contributions log to make the reasoning for the block identifiable. If you check the block log, you'll note than he's been temporarily blocked several times for edit warring (I think the first was 12/7/08), so he's on a short leash. You'll find the offending edit here. He insulted Peter, and re-inserted the insult after it was removed. Then he was given a one-day block. I could have kept reverting him, but he knows the rules, and chooses to ignore them.

There are certainly many ways to deal with a given situation mine was by no means the only valid one but I don't want you to think there was no reason behind it. And I definitely appreciate any help you provide in working with him. (WT-en) Gorilla Jones 19:16, 9 January 2009 (EST)

I'm back!

[edit]

Well, successfully moved overseas to work for a while now. Taken a little while to get internet up and running; but I'm there at last!

Prolly won't get to spend as long online these days, but I'll still be doing what I can.

So have I missed anything interesting since I left in February?

Welcome back! I think you missed the "resolution" of the EE thing, but other than that, it's been pretty quiet. (WT-en) LtPowers 09:36, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
What did happen there in the end? I noticed his rather long rant on his user page and that he's giving up on the project. In some ways a shame as he had potential. Now where's the tilde key gone :-\ (WT-en) Nrms 09:43, 11 April 2009 (EDT) (Ah, up there! Silly US/Arabic keyboard!)
You just answered your own question. Yes, he had a lot of potential, but he never grasped how to interact properly. Maybe in 5 years or so... (WT-en) LtPowers 10:57, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Colorado

[edit]

I added the white water rafting I was not deleting it. I also added additional information about the Arkansas River and it was deleted? (WT-en) Kwik517

Thanks but according to the linking policy, my link was completely inline and followed all policies. I would like it re-added it was correct on all the pages I added content to. I am a Colorado Native and frequent and visit many of the locations I have added. A Hotel link is ok just as a restaurant and attraction is ok. Thanks :)

External links should point to primary sources. For example:

   * The official tourist office or government web site for a destination
   * The official web site for a hotel
   * The official web site for a restaurant or bar
   * The official web site for a museum, park, or other attractions
   * The official web sites of cultural and educational organizations offering programs of interest to travelers, such as foreign language instruction or cooking classes.

Manchester

[edit]

Right, it was proposed (with no objections raised) ages ago to Merge many of the Manchester districts, but so far not much has happened. So I'm going to plunge forward and make a start on this; keeping in line with what was proposed on the Manchester Talk pages.

If anyone has any feedback on what I'm doing, here would be a good place to put it.

citybaseapartments - spamming?

[edit]

I undid a couple, with nice messages, and I've rolled the others back. I noticed you left a message on the talk page. Thanks. --(WT-en) Inas 07:26, 11 May 2009 (EDT)

re: Citybase Apartments

[edit]

Hi Nrms,

First of all - apologies if we have broken your guidelines - we weren't aware that we were breaking any rules. We noticed that a few of our competitors (i.e. silverdoor.co.uk) have done a similar thing so we thought this was allowed. We have apartments all over the UK (many of which we own or own the lease to rather than are just agents for), so how would we best submit ourselves to Wikivoyage?

—The preceding comment was added by 84.92.213.133 (talkcontribs) .

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to respond. Just done a search for silverdoor, but not finding any results. The usual system seems to be to put an ad where you are based, which I realise may not be the most useful thing for your particular business. Another way is to register on the site and then you can use your User page to put up information about your business. The welcome for business owners page I linked you to does mention And it's quite alright to put information about yourself and your business on your User page (if you don't turn it into a marketing brochure). so that gives you an outlet. If you want a better explanation, I would have a chat with someone like (WT-en) Peter who knows the policies and rationale behind them a lot better than me. (WT-en) Nrms 09:02, 11 May 2009 (EDT)

Back again, I hope!

[edit]

Well, after fun and games at work leading to me being all over the place, things seemed to have settled down again. Hopefully this'll give me a little more time to spend back on Wikivoyage! (WT-en) Nrms 11:44, 2 February 2010 (EST)

Well, welcome back then --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) talk 11:47, 2 February 2010 (EST)

Vanderkloof

[edit]

Block karookid he/she is vandalising the Vanderkloof article. :) Have a nice day. -(WT-en) SnappyHip 19:22, 27 February 2010

Sorry, but I don't have Adminsitrator rights. Am keeping an eye on it, and it will soon be an undo on sight! (WT-en) Nrms 10:27, 27 February 2010 (EST)

Admin

[edit]

Hi Neil! I saw during archieving the vfd page that you are interested in becoming an Administrator. I trailed your past edits and beside the rather long off-period last year I would nominate you if were interested in continous janitorial work. Please have a look the handbook and let me know if you still interested. (WT-en) jan 07:29, 1 March 2010 (EST)

Thanks Jan. I know comments were made about waiting a couple of months first since I have had the rather lengthy period away from the project. Joys of where I work and the associated bureaucracies! Hoping thngs will settle down now, but there is still the potential for things to go pear-shaped again at the end of the month, so may be best if we hold off until beginning of April just in case I find myself looking at another length hiatus. Will carry on doing what I'm doing until then and I'll have a readup of the handbook, then we can where things are come April. (WT-en) Nrms 07:44, 1 March 2010 (EST)

Vandalism

[edit]

I went ahead and blocked the three accounts they've made for one day, which is the longest I can do without a ban nomination. That should take care of it. (WT-en) Texugo 10:43, 1 March 2010 (EST)

Mr. NRMS, I have removed most of the content and informed well, why some information must remain on the main page. This site is for all, not whims and fancies of few. Its unfair that a person like you, who haven't contributed for Kerala, interested only in deletion. May I accuse is it part of your vested Interests, though I am not.

I don't mind if you edit my article, which you are welcome. But its unfair to delete and keep bare minimum for Kerala, when many other states, particularly Tamil nadu or Karnataka has more information than Kerala. Kindly donot use Wiki as a medium to pour vested interests

Arunvarmaother

Please see my comments on your talk page and on the article's talk page. I have been around on Wikipedia for a fair amount of time, along with other people (some of whom are site Admins) who have knowledge of the site policies. We have tried to explain to you why we are having to do this. We are all volunteers, and we don't have the time, or indeed the in-dpeth knowledge, to correct this sort of thing. You obviously have the knowledge of the area and its religious attractions; but we really need you to put the information onto the correct pages. Bearing in mind we hope all contributors will work not just on one or two pages a couple of times then leave, but will start to get involved in other areas of the project including housekeeping; so having knowledge of the policies, etc is a Good Thing(tm). Please, try and understand that we are not trying to get rid of your contributions... We have explained a number of times what we need you to do for your contributions to be welcomed.
