Hello! Please have a look at Talk:Poros#Too_many_images.3F. ϒpsilon (talk) 21:24, 19 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Sorry but not being an expert I don't know how to communicate with the administrator who has been changing photo order in the article. I have to accept that galleries are not welcome as they are apering on my latest presentation but I don't believe having photos SCATERED around the article has eny elegance. Might follow the rules but are not at all elegant. Non the less, do what the standards suggest you to do

Replacing pagebanners

[edit]

Hi, Agustin. I really like your new pagebanner for Barcelona, but in the future, please attempt to attain consensus on the article's talk page (in this case, Talk:Barcelona). Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:43, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for any inconvinencies. I have no idea how to get consensus. I just tried to be helpful. Sorry again I choose this photo because previous one was not representative of the entire city. It was jus a pice of a monument. I'm local citicen of Barcelona Best —The preceding comment was added by Agustin Bartolome (talkcontribs)

The way to gain a consensus is to post a smaller version of the current pagebanner and the one you want to replace it with in the article's talk page and see what people think. Also, please sign your posts on talk pages by typing 4 tildes (~) in a row.
Best,

[edit]

Hi!

I'm curious what you are trying to do here, removing pretty much everything in the See section and adding an additional link to Wikipedia. We should only have one link to WP per article (to the same city/country/national park/travel topic etc. in WP). I see your edit was already reverted by another user. Please be a bit more careful. ϒpsilon (talk) 18:14, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Very sorry. Believe it or not I just created the same poi to little by little fulfill all the information. I was using an iPad and I dont know how some of the information desapear I did not erase anything. I believe it was a software problem not mine but of curse I cant be sure. In any case SORRY

(User talk:Agustin Bartolome)

It's OK, at a first glance it just looked like you deleted a whole lot of information just like that. I know it's hard to edit (or even to use the dynamic map) when using a tablet and most certainly if you are editing WV through the Mobile page. Anyways, luckily it is easy to revert and fix things in a wiki so nothing has disappeared. :) ϒpsilon (talk) 20:21, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Tone

[edit]

Hi, Agustin. I'm concerned about the Tone of some of the edits you're making in the Poros article. I've been trying to edit out text that smacks of touting. I'd love it if you would help by avoiding non-explanatory words and phrases like "the best" and "amazing." It's fine to say some place is "great," but what makes it so good? Since you know the island and I don't, I hope you'll take the time to edit the article for tone. Thanks a lot. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:09, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I understand and agree on the terms. Either I left somebody modify an article with my account or I just copy and paste. I will take further attention. Best

Much appreciated. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:38, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Ikan

You will realized I'm not an expert communicating with supervisors like you. I very much appreciate your help building Wikivoyage as I xpecto you to appreciate the humble effort of amateurs like me. I come from Spain and I spend holidays in Poros /Greece. Recently the very reckoned hotel resort chain opened a resort called Amanzoe's near Poros. Straight line is 32 Km. It is a major resort for the area and is a tourism attraction for all the surrounding villages. You might believe is far form the Poros but certainly is an attraction you erasing it form the list puts down the quality of offers in the area. It brings more to the community listing it that the opposite. I'm convinced for the citizens and visitors listing it gives more level to the area than the opposite. Please, let me know. Best

(talk)
While I don't know the details of this case, I don't think Ikan wanted you to completely remove the hotel from the article. He likely just asked you to change the description of the hotel to something that would sound more objective and describing. ϒpsilon (talk) 04:22, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
In this case, I actually did remove the listing because it is not on the island of Poros - being, as User:Agustin Bartolome says, 32 km from the island. The listing (without any touting) should be put in an article about someplace on the mainland, in my opinion. Agustin, if you really want to make a case for this listing being appropriate for the Poros article, Talk:Poros would be the appropriate place to do so.
By the way, Agustin, the great majority of users here - certainly including me - are amateurs, not industry professionals. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:42, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi Ikan,

When I talked about amateurs is because I'm not an expert comunicating with the structure as the wiki doesn't work like a standard email and certainly I feel little bit lost writing emails that I dont know where are being sent. I hope this one arrives to you two. Regarding Poros island, bare in mind that the distance of the island to the main land is 200meters with ferries every 15 minutes for a 5 min trip. Basically Poros is considered part of the mainland rather than an island. I have never used Talk:Poros and hardly anybody will write on it as I have probrably created 95% of Poros article. I leave it in your hands to keep it or remove it. Bare in mind that price per room and day is 1,500 euros and having an hotel like this on the area pushes up all the area as a tourist destination. Please do whatever you thing is appripriate. Best talk

Just because you've written the great majority of the Poros article is not a reason why no-one would read or respond to a post at Talk:Poros. I will copy some of the discussion here to that page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:15, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello ϒpsilon, Ikan Kekek, Talk:Poros

Sorry if I don't use the appropriate way to communicate with the Wikipedia supra structure. I would like you two to understand few things I'm pretty new in Wikipedia/Wikivoyage. I think I started last March. I come form Barcelona, Spain. I spend normally 10 days in Poros/Greece every summer I found Poros attractive to get started on Wikivoyage. I have written probably 95 % of all content on Poros I have NO INTEREST on the area further than trying to create a good article with which I could get initiated on Wikivoyage This summer I have been once again in Poros I have showed the page to people on the island Many of which have suggested me to include a POI (Point of interest) They have suggested me to include a resort build by [| Aman group] It is probably one the 5 BEST tourist resorts in Greece and people on the Peloponnese area are very proud of having the group chosen their area to build the resort. On the south part of the Peloponnese peninsula there are tree major ports for motor and sail boats coming from Greece to Italy and vice versa. This ports are Poros, Spetses and Hydra. From them all the biggest port by far is Poros. In my article I have been trying to reflect that a great resort has been build on the area called [|Amanzoe] and that people can go and visit the resort for a drink, a luck or dinner or to sleep. To mention the new existence of that resort any writer on Wikivoyage has four chances: a) to included in UNDERSTAND, b) To include it on EAT, c) To include it on DRINK, d)To include it on SLEEP, and f) to include it on GO NEXT. From them all I thought SLEEP was the most appropriate even it is 62km away by car 30 miles by boat. I have been unsuccessful as it has been removed last August 18th because the hotel has been considered "not to be IN THE ISLAND" Then I thought the POI could be included on GO NEXT as many article includes Museums, Cities and natural resorts much further than 50 km without anybody questioning if it is or not appropriate Yesterday my entry was removed too! Much to my regret, I feel incapable to include a Point of Interest that people around the area are very proud to know it has been build, specially in Greece suffering a big recession on recent years. My question is, CAN ANYBODY HELP ME to understand WHERE do I have to include an Hotel/Restaurant/bar on the article about Poros?

Best

Again, please participate in the discussion on Talk:Poros. Also, if you do haven't been reading edit summaries, please start. You can see the edit summary explaining the second reversion of your edit in the revision history of the Poros article or simply here. We do things by consensus on this site, not by repeated attempts by an individual to take it upon themselves to do controversial things without agreement from others. Thanks. Stop edit warring, now

[edit]

You've contributed a lot of great content, but you need to stop re-adding a listing in Kranidi to the Poros guide. I no longer care why you think it should be in that guide. It's been explained to you repeatedly how Wikivoyage works in terms of where things are listed. If you continue edit warring, it will unfortunately become necessary to temporarily suspend your account, so just stop. Now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:01, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

And stop listing it everywhere. No listing can appear in more than one place. If you never read the don't tout page, read it now, because whatever your motivations are, in effect, you are currently touting, and that's not acceptable on this site. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:05, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have just read your mentioned article don't tout. I have to advance you I have zero interest promoting the Amanzo'e resort. I also have to admit that says very clearly (businesses should be listed in only one article for the town or district in which the business operates; if an article about the town has not yet been created, create it). I have been shocked be the principle as for my modest point of view doesn't help travelers find a De Lux resort on an area where there is NON 5 stars hotels. Then I read in See also at the end of don't tout the following article The traveller comes first where WV says We make our navigation as intuitive as possible, to help readers find what they're looking for. My point has been and is that travelers visiting Poros, Hydra or Spetses have, as the article is at present, very little chances to come across a great luxury resort in that area. For me, helping travelers comes first than REPEATING a listing. Certainly abusing repeating will distort WV but not being useful is worst. You have even remove the mentions on how to arrive to the resort in Hydra and Spetses??? Agustin Bartolome
You have shown a great deal of interest in promoting the resort, through your actions. You can't list any business in more than one article. Look at Poros#Go next for an acceptable way to list Kranidi and mention that resort in other articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:14, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
As you are aware from all my contributions to wikivoyage, that there is not a hidden interest promoting a Amanzo'e resort which I have not even visited. I just choose Poros to learn to edit in Wikivoyage. This summer people in Poros told me about the existence of this unique resort on the area which I had not mentioned. I saw on their web site that it was an obvious place to mention as theres is few hotels of that category on the area and I decided to mention it. Since then you have been trying to prevent me to include it on Poros#sleep article because you consider the listing as receptive POI. Certainly I have repeated it in Poros Hydra and Spetses which I let you knew in advance. Since then, I STILL believe you are harming the area preventing travelers finding top class accommodation. I have to tell you that there is great amount of big yachts crossing from Italy to Greece an vice versa which you exclude to inform about the existence of Amanzo's. Worst of it all, is that, beside criticizing my repeating listing, you have not given a solution for travelers willing to sleep on what is called in Wikivoyage Spurge accommodation on the area. There is people that travel this way bringing big money to the region but you insist in preventing this repetitive entry. This area is missing this clients. (Please don't tell me Poros#Go next is the appropriate place) Agustin Bartolome talk:Poros
I am done participating in this discussion, and I will only repeat that all of us have to follow site policy or argue in the appropriate policy threads to get it changed. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:40, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
[edit]

You have eliminated templated listings, which are irregular on this area. You are mentioning to alphabetized or subtitled in some logical way (direction, etc.).) They have a logical order which is distance from Athens in lineal order which is what makes more sense here. Best Agustin Bartolome

That's a clear parameter, but would distance from Poros be a more useful measure for Poros#Go next? If not, perhaps it would be good to start the section with a brief mention of the fact that the destinations are listed in order of increasing distance from Athens. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:35, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think I didn't explain it properly. They are ordered as if someone will be driving from Athens to the south finding Poros in the middle of the list. Best Agustin Bartolome
I understood that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:33, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
