[edit]Hello, AnniAriel. I have reverted your edits to the Peru article. Please read , Ground Zero (talk) 02:02, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- I did. And I just left you a message about it. I'm Peruvian and very sad you are not giving the right information about my country. I can send you sources about the changes I've made if you want to. Just let me know what are the steps to follow. Thanks AnniAriel (talk) 02:04, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
I have reverted your edits to the Peru article. Please read Wikivoyage:Welcome, newcomers, which will help you get started on how to edit in Wikivoyage. Wikivoyage uses its own regional structure for country articles which is based onbwhat is most useful for travellers. This may be different from administrative regions or "natural regions". When you removed the Wikivoyage regions for Peru, you broke the navigational links to other Peru articles. If you think that the regional organizationshould be changed, please make your proposal at talk:Peru. If other editors agree with your proposal, then it can be implemented. Ground Zero (talk) 02:02, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. In the meanwhile, can I add the information without erasing the previous one? AnniAriel (talk) 02:26, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- As you are new here, I think it is best to discuss major changes like this on the talk page first. Changing the regions would be a huge projects because of the internal links and organization. There are ten existing region articles, and you are proposing to replace them with eight new ones. I will ask again if these regions make sense for travellers, or only for biologists. Ground Zero (talk) 02:32, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- If you want to take a pick to this article in the Spanish Wiki. It's basically the same information. I do understand the rules of Wiki, however it's not okay to block information that is somehow trying to help potential travelers to be aware of what they might find in my country for real.

- It's completely OK and absolutely in keeping with site practice to insist on a discussion on Talk:Peru and insist that a consensus is required to change the regional organization of a country on en.wikivoyage. So start the thread and try to persuade us that your proposed changes are most helpful for the traveler. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:05, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

National Parks
[edit]The info you added to Peru is useful and interesting, but it really deserves to have its own article, as other WV editors have done for other countries. See the Wikivoyage:National Parks Expedition page for examples and then have only a small link in the Peru country-level article to summarize and point to the Peru national parks as main article. Best regards, Mrkstvns (talk) 04:51, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- I agree. Also, we simply don't insert inline links to Wikipedia like that. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:Links to Wikipedia. I will delete all of those links now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:17, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- I just created the article. Can you please take a look at it and help me with the editing? I tried to put the link in the main article (Peru), but it doesn't let me modify it. Thanks in advance. AnniAriel (talk) 05:55, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- 2 things I noticed right away are that alternating default left-justification and right-justification of images is not in keeping with Wikivoyage style and image policy and that the article lacks a default pagebanner and is a stub (OK, those are 3 things). Could you please insert the code in Wikivoyage:Quick park article template? Also, what do you mean but "doesn't let me modify it"? Please explain what the problem is. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:26, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Let's see: I tried to put up the banner, but somehow it wouldn't let me, even though I checked that it was a licensed image (from Wikimedia Commons). With the images, I didn't take that rule into account, so I will fix it right away. Finally, I was trying to erase the information I put at the start of the article on Peru and add a link to the new article, but when I tried to do it, a message popped up saying it would be considered vandalism. That's why I decided not to edit anything at all and asked for help. AnniAriel (talk) 14:52, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- It was all fixed!! Thanks to you all. AnniAriel (talk) 15:16, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- The article you created looks like a nice start. Are you using the Chilean national parks article as a model? (That's a pretty good looking article, IMHO, and shows how the template is used, how to use a map, format listings, etc.)
- You might also want to add a link to your new article on the page National parks (as well as figuring out how to trim the text on the page Peru, adding a link to your new article.
- Best wishes, Mrkstvns (talk) 14:48, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. A little bit of help with some issues on it (I explained it in the previous message) would be appreciated. :) AnniAriel (talk) 14:56, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- I took a stab at removing content and creating pointers to Peruvian National Parks. Please take a look and make sure that it looks okay to you and that I didn't inadvertently do something you dislike. Mrkstvns (talk) 15:43, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

Links
[edit]Hello,
Please be aware that we generally do not want citations of sources in Wikivoyage articles. It is especially inappropriate to fill an article with links to Wikipedia articles. I've removed the links from the Peru article, but please, do not cite related references in Wikivoyage articles. Mrkstvns (talk) 15:06, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Understood. Thanks AnniAriel (talk) 19:10, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Just to clarify: it's great to cite your source in an edit summary or, failing that, on an article's talk page - just not in the article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:42, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
Departments
[edit]Please look at my remarks here and look at Wikivoyage:Country article template and Wikivoyage:Avoid long lists. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:25, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, but there's a major inaccuracy in the information about Amazonas. Saying Amazonas Region could confuse readers because the Amazonas Department isn't part of the Amazonas Region, and this confusion could deter tourists from visiting important sites like Kuelap that is, in fact, in the Amazonas department. I think this should be corrected by clearly stating the list of the Peruvian departments. In fact, I'm on my way to start this article.
- One more time, if you don't agree with my clarification, I ask you in a polite way to not erase the information, because it's time and research "invested", and point me someone who I can contact with to talk about this issue. Thanks AnniAriel (talk) 05:38, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- You need to start a thread in Talk:Peru, discuss this and try to persuade a consensus to support your proposal. It is not OK to unilaterally change the regional structure of any country or other area in Wikivoyage, and trying to claim that I am at fault for "erasing" an edit that violates specific Wikivoyage guidelines that I cited is unreasonable and won't get you anywhere. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:45, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- I notice that this was already addressed in the #Welcome thread at the beginning of this page. Stop trying to get away with making these kinds of unilateral changes! And since this is not the first time you've done it, be warned that if you do it again, it will be necessary to block your posting privileges for wasting our time and being uncollegial. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:48, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- "You say I'm getting carried away?" In other words, if someone gives you an answer that you don't consider correct, your action is to block them. Excuse me, but that only shows how unprofessional you are in managing this page. Don't worry, I'm not familiar with the regular procedures, but I am outraged by this kind of "polite" response that doesn't solve the issue at hand (like explaining to a traveler that the Amazonas region does not include the Amazonas department). I highly doubt that there is any reliable Peruvian document stating that the Amazonas region and the department are the same thing, or that the Amazonas department has nothing to offer travelers. If you have the template, document, or anything else formal and written from Wikipedia that says it should be this way, then I would kindly appreciate it if you could send me the link so I can read it carefully and file my complaint. It's incredible, and I really don't understand the rush to block information or not know how to respond to a comment with height when asked a question, especially when holding the position of administrator and, finally, not being Peruvian. AnniAriel (talk) 13:31, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- AnniAriel, Wikivoyage, like other collaborative projects, has rules, and a manual of style, and procedures. It is not a place where editors can just do whatever they want. You changed the list of cities to a list if departments without discussing it on the talk page, erasing the work of other editors. Now you are angry that Ikan Kekek has changed it back. This is not your personal web page. It is a collaborative project.
- The list of departments does not follow Wikivoyage style. In a country-level article, we have a list of the 7 cities (plus or minus 2) that are of most interest to travellers. A list of 25 departments is the right thing for Wikipedia, but not for a travel guide.
- The Wikivoyage community of contributors does not want Wikivoyage to become another encyclopedia. wikipedia is a far better encyclopedia than Wikivoyage could ever be. Wikivoyage is a far more useful guide for travellers than Wikipedia could ever be. Ground Zero (talk) 13:54, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Again, I didn't think by any means that this was my personal webpage, but I guess the reasons I have for writing about my country are far from being understood. Anyway, can you please direct me to the web link where the templates for Wikitravel articles are? (And just to clarify everything, my complaint pertains to the way administrators address other people. I believe that if, somehow, you have a role in this project or any other, you should truly possess the necessary skills to communicate with people effectively. Not everyone here is in their twenties or just finished college.) AnniAriel (talk) 14:11, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Here is the list of templates: Wikivoyage:Article skeleton templates.
- Wikivoyage administrators spend a lot of time coaching new contributors, and dealing with vandals (and there are a lot of vandals). When new contributors ignore the coaching, administrators lose patience very quickly. You tried to unilaterally change the region structure once, and it was explained to you why you can't do that. When you tried a second time, I think you can understand why Ikan Kekek was not patient with you. Ground Zero (talk) 14:24, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry. Still not a reason to lose temper I think, plus the first time, it was a whole different story, and still the actions were nos right to address a newbie here. But again, thanks for your answer. AnniAriel (talk) 16:31, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Warning you that you'll be blocked if you continue to behave disruptively is not "temper." Just stop trying to change the regional structure of articles unilaterally! Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:42, 26 August 2024 (UTC)

Blocking editors from editing temporarily is the only sanction that can be applied to editors who ignore Wikivoyage policy. Warning them about being blocked is always recommended before blocking them. If they ignore the warning, then they are blocked for a short period. Ground Zero (talk) 17:13, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
