Hello, Lost dreamer! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

I really appreciate that you're adding information about the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. However, there are a couple of issues you might want to consider: (1) Detailed listings of attractions are generally left out of region articles and put in articles for the city (town, village, whatever) they're in or the nearest town that has an article, with a brief summary of highlights given in prose in sections like "See" and "Do" in each region article. (2) To be useful, listings of attractions need to have street addresses and/or lat/long geocoding, and also when relevant, opening hours and contact information.

Right now, it's not even clear what town a lot of the things you're listing are in.

Of course I realize you are in the process of working, not finished, but I thought before you got too far, it would be good to check in with you. Please let me know if I can help you in any way, other than by adding content, since I have yet to have the pleasure of visiting Nova Scotia.

All the best,

Hi Ikan Kekek,
Thanks for your comments! I've been having some formatting issues, so I appreciate your links, I'll definitely check them out. So far I've been trying to input information, as it looked pretty sad when I started. The Eastern Shore is a rural area and I'm not sure the best way to present it, or what should be kept to the main page. None of the"cities" have more than a few thousand people. Is there any rule of thumb for how to group attractions when dealing with large rural areas?
Thanks, Lost Dreamer
Hi, Lost Dreamer. As Ikan Kekek said, listings should go in articles for cities, towns and villages, not regions. Right now, it looks like Guysborough is the only city in the Eastern Shore that has its own article. So, the answer to your question is don't be shy about creating new articles for the places where the listings are. You can have a look at Wikivoyage:What is an article? for more information, but the long and short of it is that if a place has something for tourists to see or do, and a place to eat or sleep, it's okay to create an article for it regardless of how big or small the town is in population. Also, if it makes more sense, you can create articles whose "boundaries" are drawn differently; for instance, clustering a few neighboring towns together (see Rural Montgomery County for one example of this). -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 02:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks AndreCarrotflower. The example was helpful. I'll have to read through all the links and figure out how to start making some new articles.

Feel free to ask more questions any time, and you can also use the Talk:Eastern Shore (Nova Scotia) page if you'd like opinions about proposed new articles that might cover more than just an individual town or three but larger rural areas. Or you can just plunge forward, as Andre said above. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:03, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
