Hello, Saxula! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.
Great work on Koh Ker! --Peter Talk 00:23, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, awesome job! I did move the weblinks section to Talk: Koh Ker, though, because of Wikivoyage's policy on external links. (Also, very minor point, but expressions like "is situated" are considered unnecessary on this site.) Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:08, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I just had a look at your latest edits to that article. It's OK for you to make a listing for Hidden Cambodia, but please make it an actual listing (and only one of them), not just a link. The easiest way to do that is click the template ("do name," etc.) next to "Activities" in your edit screen. All the best, Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:05, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know if I understand your advices very well. - Concerning the tour operators: There must be more than hundred in Cambodia. Not all of them are serious (some operators from foreign countries offer tours to remote temples not knowing the sites and the road conditions). I made several tours with Hidden Cambodia and was happy afterwords, but is it correct to advertise this agency in Wikimedia-articles?--Saxula (talk) 09:44, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Advertise? No, that's never OK. List? Possibly, under the following conditions: (1) They provide a service that would be very difficult for a traveler to accomplish on their own; (2) there aren't many other honest tour agencies that can provide the same service and are easy to find. If, say, there are only three agencies that satisfy condition #1, all three can be listed. If there are, say, more than 7, and they are easy to find, probably none should be listed. If condition #1 isn't satisfied, none should be listed. Does that make sense? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:26, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm sorry, but TripAdvisor cannot be mentioned in articles on this site. See the external links policy page. And the rationale that I've seen other admins use to explain the policy is that sites like TripAdvisor don't have any reliable or really accountable rating system like those established by professional inspectors. So please delete all mention of TripAdvisor in the Koh Ker article. Thanks a lot, and sorry for the inconvenience. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:08, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I cannot read all the rules (some are even different between Wikivoyage English and German).--Saxula (talk) 09:34, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- If there are differences between the guidelines in English- and German-language Wikivoyage, there shouldn't be. Please bring that up with any examples you know of in the Pub. And thanks again for all the great content you put up! Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:33, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
