Hello, SingyeDzong! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

Please forgive us for being remiss in not welcoming you before, and thank you for all your great work! I do want to bring one detail to your attention, though: when you add listings, such as you did here, please do not delete fields that you would leave blank. I will restore those fields in this case.

Thanks again and all the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:06, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

An award for you!

Suggestion

[edit]

Your contributions have the tag of Visual Edit. I assume that you use visual edits for contributing. You can use source edit as that is quite convenient. This is just a suggestion and personal opinion may differ.🙂 2006nishan178713t@lk 13:33, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please don't delete unused fields in listings

[edit]

Hi, User:SingyeDzong. I see you've added an incomplete template here. Please don't do that. Always include all fields in listing templates, and just leave the ones you don't add content to blank. Restoring the deleted empty fields in listings like this would be appreciated.

Thanks and all the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:31, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

P.S. I see that I already mentioned this to you on 29 March 2021. Please pay attention to messages left on your user talk page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:31, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Location touting

[edit]

Please read Wikivoyage:Don't tout#Identifying touting, with special attention to the bullet that starts with Avoid assertions of proximity to nearby attractions. Once you've read it, please restore my detouting. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:45, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Or if you still disagree, maybe you could explain what "convenient to" means and why we can't let readers simply consult the map in the article. The kind of statement you made is often added by hotel marketers (which everyone knows you are not) and routinely deleted from hotel listings on this site. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:50, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
True, they could consult a map, but if I were looking for a hotel in close vicinity the local airport (remember that an airport is not an attraction) then that would be the point that I would look for when scrolling through a list of hotels. Would 'in close vicinity of Bagdogra Airport' or 'a five minute drive from Bagdogra Airport' be a better way of conveying this information? But, if you think mentioning this breaks a convention, then please revert my edit. I will not attempt to add it again, but respect your decision. SingyeDzong
5-minute drive is OK, yes. Specificity is the important thing, to avoid having a tone like the one cited on the don't tout page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:26, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, got it. Thanks for your input. SingyeDzong SingyeDzong (talk) 11:28, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
