User talk:Telamon 08
Hello, Telamon 08! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--ϒpsilon (talk) 18:00, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Santa Teresa
[edit]Both Santa Teresa Gallura and Santa Teresa di Gallura show up as autocompletion suggestions when you type "Santa Teresa" into the "Search Wikivoyage" box. In any case, I gather, the first name is correct and the second is not, and therefore, now that you've merged material from Santa Teresa di Gallura to Santa Teresa Gallura, the former should be turned into a redirect, right?
Best,

- Wikipedia is inconclusive, having a redirect from w:Santa Teresa di Gallura to w:Santa Teresa Gallura but the other name used on the map and quickbar. However, this seems pretty conclusive. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:58, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
I am cool on the nomenclature, because the municipality uses the names interchangeably. I have fixed the disambiguation page, but I am still unsure how to delete the now superfluous "Santa Teresa di Gallura" page. Please assist. Thanks!--Telamon 08 (talk) 08:15, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
- Especially because the terms are interchangeable, but also because since you moved content from that page, its history has to be preserved under this sites Creative Commons Copyleft, that article will not be deleted, but I will turn it into a redirect. It can't be a coincidence that https://mauritiusattractions.com/agalega-islands-mauritius-i-130.html has exactly the same wordings as the article you started. You are not allowed to violate copyright on this site - see Wikivoyage:Copyleft. Therefore, the article was deleted. If you'd like to write an article about these islands, please go ahead, but use your own words. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:50, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- That text - in addition to being factual, very short, and appearing on many other websites in addition to mauritius attractions - is around 20% of the article. You deleted the whole article for not liking a small section with text taken from wikipedia and answers.yahoo, which are open source. I see that you are not in favor of better information about the world. I will refrain from writing anything in the future. Best of luck with your policing, and I will move to wikitravel!
- That wasn't the only passage that was copied, it wasn't OK, and if you're going to leave this site in a huff because we protect ourselves from lawsuits based on copyright violation, it's a pity because a little effort to use your own words and credit your sources in edit summaries would be a lot more helpful, but happy trails. It also doesn't matter if text is open source, you still can't copy and paste it without crediting the source in an edit summary or the article's talk page - that violates the Creative Commons Copyleft of Wikipedia, in addition to this site's policy. By the way, you should read Wikitravel's policies on copying stuff from other sites before you take your righteous anger there. Good luck. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:04, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Copying 4 lines (out of more than 16, so <20%) from yahoo answers from 2006 is a major copyright violation. Too bad my brother...who is an intellectual property lawyer in the US where laws are strictest...does not agree with you. Good luck, and please delete my username. You guys are weirdos, and I believe that you simply don't want content. For a bit of fun, you should check out the Portuguese and Spanish pages if you think my pasting something from a user in yahoo is a "gross violation" that requires complete deletion. This is like the 4th time I have had people go crazy on something I post, and it is good that you prefer that to content rather than change it yourself and actually filling out your broken links. Again, I do not see how to delete my username, but I want to completely disassociate from this website and not receive any emails from you crazies anymore.
- Usernames don't get deleted. Have a good one. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:11, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
