Vidharbha consists of the districts of Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Wardha.

For decades, Vidarbha has had a statehood movement, seeking to split itself from the rest of Maharashtra. However, it has not been successful.

On average, Vidarbha is less economically developed than western and central Maharashtra. It is a region that grows cotton, oranges and soybeans.

Vidarbha has its own language, Varhadi, a variant of the Marathi language. Apart from Marathi, Hindi is widely used throughout the region. In fact, Marathi is very well mixed with Hindi and hence it's slightly different from pure Marathi language.
