Understand

The region is primarily made up of the administrative division of Taraba State, combined with parts of Adamawa and Benue states. The Mambilla Plateau encompasses large parts of the area, with an average elevation of 1,600 metres it offers dramatic landscapes with spectacular views.

Get in

The eastern regions is quite a remote part of Nigeria, with limited transport infrastructure. Getting here mainly involves ong journeys by bus or 4x4 car. There's one airport in the region, in Jolingo. It sees flights from the capital Abuja, but regular service from other cities is very limited. Makurdi, in the western end of the region, is connected with Port Harcourt by rail, but passenger trains are slow and infrequent.

There are no major border crossings from Cameroon: road condition in border areas ranges from bad to non-existent.

This region travel guide to Eastern Nigeria is an outline and may need more content. It has a template, but there is not enough information present. If there are Cities and Other destinations listed, they may not all be at usable status or there may not be a valid regional structure and a "Get in" section describing all of the typical ways to get here.
