Galkacyo International Airport. There are several flights from Dubai, Djibouti, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Bosaso, Burao and Hargeisa. The companies that operate weekly flights to Galkacyo are: Jubba Airways from Dubai, Daalo Airlines from Djibouti and African Airways from Nairobi.
By road
Somalia main Highway N° 1 passes through the city of Galkacyo, which links the northern with the southern parts of the country. There are also provincial roads that link Galkacyo with towns such as Hobyo, Bandiradley, EelGula, Wisil, and Afbarwaqo in the Golol region.

Goat milk Every morning you can have a cup of cinnamon/cardomon tea with fresh goat milk.
Camel milk : Caano Geelong . Every day the camel caravans from the surrounding nomadic villages bring fresh camel milk. Refrigerated camel milk can remain fresh (dhay) for a week; otherwise, it becomes sour (caano garoor).
Rain water and mineral water People in the region have learned how to harvest potable rain water, it is very pure and delicious. Different mineral waters from Mogadishu, Puntland and the UAE are also available.
Fruit juice At many local tea shops, stands and kiosks one can find freshly squeezed juice drinks: mango, papaya, watermelon, pineapple and grapefruit.
Soft drinks Bottled soft drinks from the Coca Cola company in Mogadishu are available.

- Southern Galkacyo Guest House (in the Arafat area). Rooms with en suite bathroom costs around $20 per person. The guest house has running water, electricity and connection with 3 different local telephone companies. Good food and it has the best cook in town who prepares delicious spaghetti, fresh fish, goat meat (suqaar) and variety of fresh fruits.
- Geedi Hotel (in the city center just 200m from the main market). It is a new hotel which opened in August 2007. The Hotel has a big restaurant, a tea/Halwa shop and internet service.
- Ambassador Hotel. The biggest hotel in Southern Galkacyo; it has a big restaurant, shops and the a spacious conference room.
- Hotel Maka. The newest Hotel which opened on April 2009. Has modern amenities including a wireless internet service.
