The North Coast of Tamil Nadu consists of Chengalpattu, Chennai, Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Tiruvallur and Viluppuram districts.

[edit]- 2 Chengalpattu — Kolavai Lake hosts migratory birds such as the whiskered tern, Indian spot-billed ducks, moorhens, coots, and small waders
- 4 Chidambaram (Thillai) — an important pilgrim centre and a holy place for Shaivites for the famous Nataraja Temple
- 5 Covelong and Muttukadu — two coastal towns south of Chennai
- 6 Cuddalore — a town located along the Bay of Bengal, home to several temples and the famous Silver Beach
- 7 Kalpakkam — home to the famous Indira Gandhi Atomic Power Plant, a nuclear breeder reactor, plus a Dutch-era fort and an unspoilt beach
- 8 Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) — ancient temples and modern stone carvers, outstanding examples of Dravidian art and architecture
- 10 Pondicherry (Puducherry) — the largest and former French colony in India offers a mixture of French and Indian architecture and culture
- 13 Tindivanam — home to Rajankulam, a 17th-century manmade pond, and the Sivan kovil and Perumal kovil temples
- 15 Tiruvallur — famous for the temple of Sri Veeraraghava Swami and the 40-foot-tall Sri Viswaroopa Panchamukha Anjaneyaswami
