Appearance
Shimen[dead link] (石門區), or Shihmen is a district of New Taipei. It lies on the north coast and is home to the most northerly point on the island of Taiwan.
Understand
Tourism is a major contributor to the economy of Shimen, which also produces a number of agricultural goods including mandarins, peanuts, and tea.
Get in
There is no rail access to the district, and visitors to the area will need to access it by car or by bus. The Provincial Highway 2 passes through the district.

Temples
- 2 5 Dragons Temple (五龍宮).
- 3 Boar Ficus superba (千年神豬樹公). An ancient banyan tree which worshippers believe is an incarnation of Baijie, the pig character from the famous tale Journey to the West.
- 4 Ganhua Eighteen Lords Temple (乾華十八王公廟), ☏ +886226382453. A modest temple and tomb complex which was relocated in the 1970s to allow for the construction of Taiwan's first nuclear power plant. The temple was originally sited 5 here. .

- 7 [dead link] New Ganhua Eighteen Lords Temple (十八王公廟), ☏ +886 2 2638 2453.
- 8 Shimen Miaoji Temple (石門妙濟寺), ☏ +886226383591. A Buddhist temple founded in 1929 during the Japanese occupation. The temple's main deity is Guanyin.
