See
- 1 Villa Epecuén, near Carhué, near Piqüé (take a train to Piqüé (AR$550), hitchhike from there to Carhué, and walk the rest). A former village that was flooded due to large rain falls in the 80s. What remains is a salt lake and a ghost village of which half is still flooded. Allowing for some grotesque and interesting pictures. Most of the community moved to the nearby touristy and picturesque Carhué. Take the time to walk the area from Carhué, which allows for great pictures. There are also therapeutic baths near Carhué which use the mud of the lake pretty much like at the Dead Sea between Israel and Jordan.
- 2 Parque Provincial Ernesto Tornquist (Cerro de la Ventana), ☏ +542914910039, parqueprovincialetornquist@opds.gba.gov.ar. This park encloses the Cerro de la Ventana and has a picturesque waterfall at the end of one of its trails, where even in water-low late summer you can take a dip into the clear and deep water of its 3 upper waterfall. - Wine production. The Province of Buenos Aires became a producer of premium wines during the first decade of the 21st century. Vineyards are located in the southern part of the province, especially around Médanos (40km from Bahia Blanca on Ruta Nacional 22). Wine-growing in this region was started in lands previously dedicated to garlic and pasture.
- The Tres Arroyos Wheat Festival. In Tres Arroyos, in the south of Buenos Aires province, there is a traditional celebration between the first day and seventh day of March: The Wheat Festival. In the festival, there are a lot of food stalls offering local traditional food: roast beef, roast veal, roast lamb. But wheat plays the most important role. There´s a wheat seeds competition. The best seed and the producer of that seed are awarded a prize. There´s also a folk music show, and on the last day of the festival a panel of judges chooses The Wheat Festival Queen.
- Cerro de La Ventana (1134 m) – With a beautiful view of all the region.
