Montmagny is a town on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada.

Montmagny is the capital of the eponymous municipality.

The city is known for its annual Snow Goose Festival in October. Thousands of snow geese flock to the city each year. They have inspired the names of several hotels, restaurants, and streets in the city. Montmagny is also a great place to watch shorebirds. The city is home to one of the province's 28 migratory bird sanctuaries.

  • From downtown Quebec (city) ( 83 km (52 mi), Hour: 0:57), take successively the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain (route 136) (west) which runs along the Saint-Laurent River; the Pierre-Laporte bridge (A73 south); the A20 (east) to the Montmagny exit; route 283 (north) or the Montée de la rivière du Sud; cross the bridge spanning the rivière du Sud; rue Saint-Louis (west), to downtown Montmagny.

  • 3 Quai de Montmagny, Ferry Ramp, avenue du Quai, +1 438-802-3995. Quay offering ferry service from Saint-Antoine-de-l'Isle-aux-Grues across the Beaujeu West channel. The ferry travels a distance of 7.72 km (one way) at high tide, entering through the confluence channel of the river and the Rivière du Sud which crosses the town of Montmagny. Except by air or by pleasure boat, the ferry is the essential main artery to reach the island at high tide. At low tide, the sandstone stretches up to 2.8 km facing the Montmagny wharf, and up to 84 m at the height of the island wharf.
