Boundaries of this region
[edit]This is a little confusing — some of the markers for this region are outside of the shaded area. Also, the shaded area on this map does not match the one on OpenStreetMap. Which is right? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:19, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- Aegina belongs in the Saronic Gulf Islands; despite its very deep historical association with Athens, for the sake of clarity, let's remove it. Ibaman (talk) 20:49, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- I see. What about the other two cities, though, that keep being removed by the IP addresses? Why would the IP address be removing those? Is there any argument for them not being there? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:52, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
There would be, if the Athens Urban area were a separate item in our breadcrumb scheme, which it's not. Ibaman (talk) 21:33, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help about this. I think it would be good to wait for another user to say what they think of the matter (I really don't know this region), but otherwise it seems to be fairly straightforward. Sometimes IP addresses do some weird things (I think there was an example in North Korea or something), but then in many cases it's hard for someone like me to know because I don't know the region. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:41, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Ibaman: Just wanted to let you know that I've done some research since I think the IP address is right, just not in the way we thought. Really, the point they're making it is that these two city articles should be merged into Athens. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:56, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
We need to do something about these IP addresses
[edit]They keep edit warring over the same two cities. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:29, 28 October 2018 (UTC) aegina is part of attica https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attica_(region) voula and pireas are parts of athens urban area
- Sorry for being impolite — I just didn't understand the situation completely. I've left a message on your talk page with an explanation. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:36, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Athens urban area is part of the larger athens metropolitan area. Modern Attica region encompasses the Athens urban area simply know as Athens. In addition to Athens, other important Attica's cites are eleusina, lavrio ,aegina town, salamis, rafina, spetses etc
- I see. I've proposed merging the article for Piraeus into Athens. I'll check out the other one too. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:53, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- ATHENS AND ITS AREA ARE INSIDE ATTICA. Please let's stop picking lint. Ibaman (talk) 23:56, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
@ibaman yes the <<athens>> is the athens urban area, the others cities like rafina, lavrio etc are not part of athens urban area are the other cities of attica region
Map and the article in general
[edit]This map is for attica peninsula (mainland Attica) not for the attica region in general. And the the islands in the towns section has been removed from some users as unrelated. In the map description must write Map of attica peninsula not attica in general which includes the island section of the region and didn't saw it in the map. Sorry for my bad english. --2A02:587:4408:3ADC:C962:EBF4:35F6:4E75 01:21, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Aegean sea etymology according to the myth
[edit]Aegean sea according to mythology named after King of Athens Aegeus. May must include as info in Athens article and in Attica article(synonymous to athens).--2A02:587:4418:4E70:EDE2:3D05:EC83:B5B1 20:47, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
