Organization[edit]
This region is not far from being a guide however, I would like some feedback regarding the way I've layed out the "See" section. Currently, there isn't really a good standard among Japanese regions about the organization, so I wonder what other's thoughts are about this? This region offers enough to warrant each of the categories if the categories are even appropriate in the first place. Thoughts? (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 01:49, 30 August 2009 (EDT)
Confused with China?[edit]
Who would confuse Chugoku with China? Is there a good reason not to delete that notice at the top of the page? Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:14, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- It's not an issue people who only speak English, but the Japanese name of this region is exactly the same as the Japanese name for China, so this can be a point of confusion if you are able to speak Japanese. The dog2 (talk) 17:34, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- (1) I don't think an English-language site needs to concern itself with that; (2) Supposing they are confused, they won't remain so after they read the first sentence. - I agree that the notice is not necessary. The article already explains that they don't even just use "Chugoku" in Japanese texts. It is always accompanied with "Chiho" (Region), so it's not an issue (and on maps, where "Chugoku" might be alone, it's a map, so it should be clear whether you're looking at China or the Chugoku Region). This is mostly just trivia. A serious traveler is not going to conduct their primary research in Japanese if they can't even distinguish China from Japan or a region of Japan in Japanese, and if they are on our page, they are already using English and know about the Chugoku Region because they're reading the article. If someone types "中国" in the search bar, Chugoku and China are already the top 2 results, and someone typing romanized Japanese (Chugoku) to find China is not our concern.
