Mergers[edit]

This county has a lot of itsy-bitsy places short of accommodation or POIs. I therefore propose merging:

Horseleap > Clara

Clonbullogue > Edenderry

Moneygall > Roscrea

Shannon Harbour, Shannonbridge, Cloghan and Ferbane > Banagher, but leave Clonmacnoise free-standing

Croghan, Geashill and Mountbolus > Tullamore

Kilcormac, Cadamstown and Kinnitty > Birr

Don't know the area at all, but that all seems sensible. Roscrea probably shouldn't even be on this county's list.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:31, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kinnitty on a closer look was viable, so Kilcormac and Cadamstown redirected there not Birr. The others were merged as above.
The reason for marking Roscrea and Portarlington on the Offaly map is that they're just over the county boundary, and are better bases for exploring adjacent corners of Offaly than anywhere the other side of a sign along the highway. Lots of similar examples in Ireland and elsewhere. This just needs to be stated in the one-liner, so readers following the link realise why they've landed in a different county.
